Scott Embry’s Geraldton Preview Posted on April 15, 2022April 15, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 NIPPA WHISKEY should break through in the opener on Dongara Cup Day at Geraldton. Long time maiden but the last four runs have all been excellent. Second to Surveillance, second to Exquisite Star, fourth behind Sleipnir, Finest Clobber and subsequent winner Pop The Moet and then second to Be Optimistic who goes straight to a 60+ Graduation at Ascot on Saturday. Should get the job done. PRETTY ADMIRABLE might be able to take up a more prominent position. Chased hard behind Pop The Moet. BOLD PROPHET showed something on debut. Nothing since. Keep safe. MERRI MERIC is going better than numerical form suggests. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – NIPPA WHISKEY WIN RACE 2 MASTER MOORE has his first start for his new stable after being left in Geraldton by Rhys Radford. Finished only 5.5L off Kaymay, War Hymn and Sweet Admiration first-up and then at his Geraldton outing last weekend finished fourth behind The Singing Tiger. Back into a CB race, he looks one of multiple chances. GRACIEBIRD looks to have finally found her feet in WA since joining Sean Rains’ yard. Best run yet was her most recent. DANTORIO trialled alongside Snickerdoodledandy and wasn’t too bad at all. Is a still a maiden but has shown glimpses. NOT A WORD was really good behind Raging Rocket last start. Open affair. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – MASTER MOORE WIN RACE 3 FROSTY BELLE looks really hard to beat in this. No natural leader and so Andrew Castle might find himself in front by default. Winner of a C1 at Geraldton three starts ago beating Passport and be Seated and then went into a hot 58+ behind Stocktaka, Honorfic and Mountain Ash when going round at $9. Any of those three would be odds on in this. Great race for her on paper. NOBLE SPIRIT was huge last Sunday at Geraldton when rocketing home at any old odds to finish third behind The Singing Tiger in a C2. Is no stranger to the quick back up having raced with Darryn Pateman in the NW season last preparation and from the gate should get the right run. TAKE ANOTHER LOOK is building back into form and runs for Lisa Staples. BUSH ICON next best. Numbers: 5 – 8 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – FROSTY BELLE WIN RACE 4 STABLE SECRET is closing in on his 11th birthday but he is so well placed here by Brad Graham. The old boy is a proven weight carrier and hasn’t seen a race of this nature since Julia Gillard was Prime Minister. First-up last preparation off 175 days he lead them up in a 1200m 60+ at Belmont and was beaten under half a length into fourth by Jaguar Grey, Beret and Lordhelpmerun. Quite simply if he reproduces that run he’ll be very hard to beat. GESSATO hasn’t been seen for 29 days and has concussion plates going on. The win for Kylie Craig was off 28 days so the freshen might be a blessing in disguise. LA CHAIVE hasn’t fired for a while but her best is good enough. ADMIRAL HUSON is all or nothing. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 10 – 6 Suggested Bet – STABLE SECRET WIN RACE 5 OUR IDYLL has shown flashes of form this preparation including last start in the Narrogin Cup when fourth behind Majinka, Overthought and Roman Flirt. Rises to 58.5kg but this is the easiest race she has seen in a while and with Beuacount likely to turn it on in the middle stages she can camp behind him and hope he comes back to them. BEAUCOUNT will have a fair following in the 2022 Dongara Cup. No doubt Brad Graham has had this pencilled in for the old boy for a while and Simone Altieri might be the right rider for him. Watch him roll. A STEAMY AFFAIR is a staying mare who will keep coming. THE CROWN PRINCE is working into form. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – OUR IDYLL WIN RACE 6 EBONY MAGI should prove hard to beat in the final event. Coming out of 58+ racing at Geraldton where he has gone close on numerous occasions. Placed to Honorfic in back to back outings in January and then beaten less than half a length when held up at a crucial stage two starts ago behind Pit To Win and Regal City. Nice form for a race like this and with a senior going on he gets the nod. BELLE OF THE NIGHT hasn’t been seen since her maiden win and has pads going on. IRON SHARP is a handy galloper on his day but is drawn awkwardly. BANGCRASH was a different horse last weekend. Can he reproduce? Numbers: 2 – 5 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – EBONY MAGI WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 3,5,8 1,2,4,6,10 1,2,3 2 Market Market
