Scott Embry’s Friday Esperance Preview Posted on January 4, 2024January 4, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 WHO BY FIRE had his first start in Esperance last time out and went around in a 58+ 1600 when ridden by Maki Morita and finished second behind Lincoln’s Law. Drops from a 58+ back into a C2 and Yannick Valenti legs aboard Alan Kennedy. Looks a really nice race for him to win. UNCOMPROMISED finished second to Hear My Prayer and Friar The Gun 20 days ago and Hear My Prayer has since come out and won again to frank the form. FRIAR THE GUN doesn’t win out of turn but Freddo Brown has her racing well his time in. THINKING GAME needs the full 2000m. At least she looks like a stayer whereas many of these are on trial at the trip. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 6 – 9 Suggested Bet – WHO BY FIRE WIN RACE 2 DARE ME has finished second to Lost Smile and third to Jericho’s Echo and Pert Remarks since arriving at Col Haddon’s Esperance stables. These maidens get weaker each meeting and she should be getting closer and closer. PARADISE STAR similar looks hard to beat off the same theory. Run consistently good races since joining Helen Harding. MON CADEAU was drawn barrier 10 of 14 at his first run in Esperance and finished 2.6L off Sister Kate who has since run a C2 placing to Bondi Bubbles. Much better drawn here a month later (scratched no available rider recently). OAKWOOD next best. Numbers: 10 – 8 – 1 – 9 Suggested Bet – DARE ME WIN RACE 3 YAKYAK was super last start behind Ebony’s Ace at 1400m and beat home main danger Mr Hollywood. The booking of Tash Faithfull is a show of intent from the stable and she should be going close to breaking through here. MR HOLLYWOOD is Mr Hollywood. He’s racing really well but he just doesn’t stretch out in the early and middle stages leaving himself too much to do in big fields of maidens. Extra 200m suits, Simone Altieri knows him well and he was one of the very few horses to make any ground up the fence this season but he’s run out of chances. MISS SPARKLE showed something last start. RED WITH TED loomed into the race two back. Numbers: 11 – 1 – 12 – 3 Suggested Bet – YAKYAK WIN RACE 4 IRRITABLE RODNEE won a 66+ 1600 at Kalgoorlie off a 3 day back-up over the traditional annual race round back in October and then was produced 80 days between runs by Neil Dellar to win a C5 1300 by over 1.5L at Esperance on Boxing Day. Rises 1.5kg but see no reason why he won’t be very hard to beat again over 1600. HEAR MY PRAYER has found his feet with Darryn Pateman and won impressively at his last two outings. Had to really get busy over the last 100m to score last start. FRANKIE BLUE EYES is building into his preparation nicely. ALBERT can lead and dictate here. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – IRRITABLE RODNEE WIN RACE 5 SIOUX CITY had his first start at Esperance for Danny (Luke) Morton in a 58+ 1100 when running a narrow second splitting rivals Westernize and Bin Shalaa. They meet again here and he should only be fitter for the outing having resumed off a 4 month spell after racing at Broome. WESTERNIZE goes super in 58+ grade and then gets found out in 70+ grade. Worth coming back to these races and carrying the weight. Can bounce back. TALK SOFTLY is going gangbusters at the moment. Currently E1 to watch scratching. BONDI BUBBLES has come of age this preparation. Tough little 3 year old. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 13 – 9 Suggested Bet – SIOUX CITY WIN RACE 6 SISTER KATE broke her maiden when $31 into $16 at her second run for Robert Payton. She then went into a C2 1100 and was beaten 1.25L by Bondi Bubbles but safely held off Symphony In Red over the last 100. Travels well, drops back into a C1, hails from an in form stable and now gets the services of Lucy Fiore. Looks a really nice set up for her here. PURE QUALITY broke her maiden like a mare who could go through the grades in Esperance. COUSIN NICCI is 1400m back to 1200m but ran well last start when covering plenty of additional ground. She’s rarely far from the winner. DEEP POINT an improver. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – SISTER KATE WIN RACE 7 HILTON should enjoy the same run as last start when winning impressively. It had been a while since he’s seen the winner’s circle but now that Nick Thomas has him back somewhere near his best he should be able to continue on his winning ways. Rises 1.5kg and 100m but maps to get a sweep trip and meets a similar level of opposition to last start. AL QUEPONE looked to peak on his run over 1300m in the same event. Interesting to see how he goes at 1400 but with Austin Galati back aboard he’ll be popular. MAGIC DEE had her first start in Esperance and finished second to Northern Ivy. NORTHERN IVY has been a great pick up for the in form Paul Tapper team. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 8 – 11 Suggested Bet – HILTON WIN RACE 8 FLY AWAY HOME has basically never seen a race like this. His last win was in a 3 year old 1400m when he beat Black Type winners Man Crush and Saintorio. Admittedly the wheels have fallen off since that point but even last preparation he finished third in a C3 1400 behind Changing Guard second-up and finished only 1.7L off them in a Saturday race two starts back. If he’s ready to rock and roll he’ll be storming home late. BRIGHID went huge first-up for J.A Mason 28 days ago. She’ll be winning races in Esperance this season. DAWN AMNESTY is going consistently well and should get the right run from the draw. SYMPHONY IN RED raced like she wanted a bit further first-up and gets that here. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – FLY AWAY HOME WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 3,4,7,9,13 2,6 2,5 1,3,4,6,7 Market Market
