Scott Embry’s Friday Albany Preview Posted on May 14, 2026May 14, 2026 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 CONDUCIVE trialled like a filly who would go around favourite in one of the 1200m maidens at Pinjarra on Wednesday, instead she’s part of the travelling Grantham – Peters Investments team to Albany on Friday. Trialled well leading into her debut preparation when pulling up shin sore and quite simply if she reproduces that trial on race day then she’ll be very hard to beat. SPARTAN LASS ran third at Albany without a trial when first arriving in WA and now has had a barrier trial tick over, recording an effortless 6L win. Logical danger. LUZ DEL SOL has had quite a lot of racing for a 2 year old filly but she did run third to Searchin’ Times which reads up really well. BLINDING LUCK beat home Spartan Lass in the Miss Rompin race. Numbers: 9 – 8 – 12 – 7 Suggested Bet – CONDUCIVE WIN RACE 2 ENCHANTED MISS hasn’t raced since December 2024 – so you’re taking the gamble on a now 4 year old mare who hasn’t raced in 527 days, however, she has had two barrier trials to prepare her for her race day return and they’ve both been equally as impressive. She’s drawn to get all the favours and whilst dividing opinions will still have her fair share of followers. PEIGI was a big improver first-up to second-up but did miss the run last week after being scratched at the Thursday meeting. RAVIN AVA was a 60-1 pop on debut but finished within 2.5L of the winner and that was after doing things wrong. HEAPS TRUE AYE has been the target betting support in almost every run, but is yet to reproduce the effort that saw her run second to Traded My Shoes. Numbers: 8 – 10 – 12 – 9 Suggested Bet – ENCHANTED MISS WIN RACE 3 PINCER MOVEMENT is the third successive William Pike – Michael Grantham – Peters Investments runner on the program who will jump favourite in respective maidens. He has certainly trialled like a horse ewho will appreciate ground so the fact that he is being stepped out at 1500m on debut is definitely the right move. Allows him time to find his feet and then wind up through gears that his opposition don’t look to possess. CROMBIE is a 38 start maiden – which says everything you really need to know – but did beat home many key rivals last start. SEA OF GALILEE looms but refuses to finish off his races. SOPHISTRY was beaten out of sight at Northam first-up but it was a far deeper race than this. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 2 – 9 Suggested Bet – PINCER MOVEMENT WIN RACE 4 WAYNE THE PAIN has enjoyed a really good preparation and Misty Bazeley has her team humming. He has won twice this campaign: a 46+ and a 54+ Rockingham / Lark Hill Cup and this does look a winnable 70+ for him on the minimum. Lucy Fiore takes over riding duties, 1500m is right in his sweet spot and he quite simply is racing in career best form. LITTLE SILVER is brilliantly placed by Steve Wolfe back into a c70+ after contesting 2x 66+ races in town recently. He’s racing lengths below his best but can bounce back on speed at his home track. OTHERONESON hasn’t won a race since Mark McGowan eased the borders after COVID-19 (genuinely…June 2022) but if he’s going to win another it does look a c70+ with a senior on. WHAT A PRINCE is competitive from 1100 to 2100. Outstanding competitor. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – WAYNE THE PAIN WIN RACE 5 DIABLO LAD looks to be quickly closing in on a maiden Sammy Faithfull victory. With the acceptance (and early scratching) of Blue Lupin he actually drops half a kilo start to start same track/grade and gains the services of Lucy Fiore with Tash serving a suspension. He can roll the top, he can control and dictate terms to them and look to skip away on straightening. Has been frustrating across his career but the timing looks perfect. ETERNALLY YOURS is clearly a work in progress, he’s still extremely wayward and green. But there’s a motoring under those quirks. WIN TO RETIRE has finished just behind Diablo Lad recently and realistically there isn’t much between them. Had excuses last week when working hard through the middle stages. KAMAKAZI SHOOTER is out aggressively in distance at the end of a long prep. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 9 – 5 Suggested Bet – DIABLO LAD WIN RACE 6 WE LOVE CHARLIE is a different horse this campaign. After breaking her maiden she stepped straight into a C2 that had some depth and was too strong for a filly who had metro form in Wiluna Lass. Was a strong win and is now looking for three in a row. As Casey Hunter heads to Broome with a team it means that Natika Riordan takes over with her 1.5kg claim and perfectly offsets the weight. Looks hard to beat again. SNEAKY SESSION similarly won a maiden at Geraldton and then a C2 at her very next outing. Plenty to like about the way she’s going at the minute. CRASHED AND BURNED got out to 30-1 last start (even with Holly Nottle on). Big price for only having to forgive one luckless run fresh. PERFECT SISTER wasn’t the same horse second-up. Hopefully bounces straight back. Numbers: 6 – 5 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – WE LOVE CHARLIE WIN RACE 7 MAGIC MIKEY just picks up a race or two every preparation. Great bread and butter horse and is a proven weight carrier (Kojonup with 66.5 but also 61kg at Narrogin on the grass). Going as well as ever and can sit midfield and wind up into this contest. I’ll KEEP HALF is lightly raced compare to these, a 3 year old filly with a set of blinkers on for the first time and Pike in the saddle. Commands respect. RENOVATION SHOW won a C2 1900 at Albany by 4L three starts ago. Since then though has been beaten by a maiden in a 58+ and finished a distant last when racing well outside his weight division in a 66+ at Ascot. CHANTEL finally finds a race where she can roll to the top and dictate her own terms. Should be peaking and is racing like she wants 1900. Numbers: 1 – 10 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – MAGIC MIKEY EACHWAY RACE 8 ANCIENT GUIDANCE is a 2x Saturday winner who is always going to be well placed in these country ratings races. First-up last campaign he resumed in a 66+ at Pinjarra when flashing home to be beaten 1.5L behind Wubin Gold, Objectify, Tycoon Harry and Regal Statue. Things didn’t go to plan for him later in the preparation and he now resumes as a c70 after last prep resuming as a m69. He’ll be a big price and you’re trusting that Boy Hill has him ready to go fresh, but if he is, he can win this. BRAVE APACHE has won his last two in style and puts himself right up on speed and stays out of trouble. If the pattern is leaders he’ll be very popular. ENCHANTED STAR was only fair at trials and was never in the contest first-up. CHINO LA DIVA is having her 17th run of the prep and is on a 6 day back-up. Tough mare. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet – ANCIENT GUIDANCE EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 2,3,9 5,6 1,2,3,7,10 1,3,4,6,7 Market Market
