Scott Embry’s Friday Albany Preview Posted on February 27, 2025February 27, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 KAMIKAZE FIGHTER was first-up, no trial over 1200m at Barker and should have finished closer to impressive winner God Has Drifted. Happy to follow up 7 days later and suggest that he can win this and extend the incredible run that Austin Galati & Indianna Wienert are enjoying. AWESOME LILY finished fifth on debut only 2L behind Fantaxtic and that race rated really well on the clock, so expecting she’s popular in betting. COCOON GIRL has two great minors and Shaun McGruddy on is a huge plus. DISCO KICKS can lead. Numbers: 4 – 8 – 7 – 6 Suggested Bet – KAMIKAZE FIGHTER WIN RACE 2 ALOTTA DANE resumed off a 50 day freshen when finishing second to Later Alligator who has since won a C1. God Has Drifted finished third and has since won and the fourth horse was key rival Gingers Sister. Comes back to 100m here and should lead. LADY COCO is the other speed horse and from barrier 1 with a set of blinkers is sure to work forward too. Going well. GINGERS SISTER has shades on and McGruddy on. Means business. FLAMETREE LADY next best. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 7 – 6 Suggested Bet – ALOTTA DANE WIN RACE 3 RAINLINE is one of a few travelling Dan & Ben Pearce horses who look extremely well placed. She’s a Saturday winning 2 year old who beat Spice Is Right and Golden Kathleen and simply didn’t come up last preparation. Even saying that – her fresh run was 2.7L behind Ahyeahrighto, God’s Gate and Ron’s Finalflutter. Runs to that level and a 58+ at Albany is very winnable. MOORDITJ BOY improves quickly into the prep. PLATINUM SHOT scratched from Wednesday to save for this. PENNIES GALORE can kick through to lead. Numbers: 8 – 3 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – RAINLINE WIN RACE 4 GINGERQUEST finished 4.5L off Nicely Played in a maiden at Bunbury before heading to Barker 7 days later and putting on a clinic. Like the two last start maiden winners – think they’re both relatively progressive. GOD HAS DRIFTED won his maiden like a horse who could go through the grades in the region. VOMO ISLAND is having his second start in WA and comes back in grade, however, also has to lump 62kg. GOOD SONG ran well enough fresh. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – GINGERQUEST WIN RACE 5 I DREAMED A DREAM looked very hard to beat here this track/distance/grade two starts back and didn’t let his followers down. Went to Pinjarra on Magic Millions Day and found the step to 66+ a bridge too far. Back in grade, McGruddy on, similar line-up. Hard to beat. BRAVE CONTENDER finished second to him the last time they met and with a small weight swing is a genuine chance at turning the tables. BEAUTIFUL BAROQUE will appreciate 3kg off her back. QUEEN OF JERUSALEM is still working into fitness. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – I DREAMED A DREAM WIN RACE 6 SAULOK lead a 58+ and won by 2.7L, stopping the clock a staggering 12L faster than average. That’s clearly the way to ride him and as long as he carries the weight he should be too slick for his rivals again. WIN TO RETIRE finished in the minor money at back to back C1 miles at Ascot and Bunbury before being parked wide throughout most recently when finishing 6L from the winner, however, that winner Twilight Tale could be an Oaks filly and the runner-up (Barra Mundy) is now a 60+ Graduation winner. LATHAMS WISH is racing well. PARC IT IN HERE has become a bit grindy. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 8 – 2 Suggested Bet – SAULOK WIN RACE 7 FLYING SOUTH has been a follow all season and thinking that coming up in grade and dropping down 5.5kg will allow him to measure up in open class. He’s relatively lightly raced, he’s got a big L600 and once he puts it all together there’s no doubting he belongs at this level. Just whether it’s coming a season too soon, but happy to play him. DEFENDING is really well placed by the Pearce Brother and always a Top 3 type in c70+ grade. AGENT JAY is enjoying his best ever season and is now proven at the distance. KNOT SECRET backs up and drops sharply in grade. Ripper race. Numbers: 8 – 1 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – FLYING SOUTH WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,4 1,2,4 1,7 1,2,3,4,5,6,8,9 Market Market
