Unleash Starting Price Posted on July 17, 2023January 29, 2026 | Posted by TABtouch Starting Price, also referred to as SP, is a bet type that allows you to back a runner to win, and you will receive the odds for that competitor at the time betting on the race closes. Placing a SP bet allows you to wager on the race before the time a traditional Fixed Odds market is published or Tote betting becomes available. SP can also provide an option if you think the Fixed Odds price being offered at the time may increase or drift by the time the race jumps. Starting Price (SP) FAQs What events is SP offered upon? The vast majority of domestic and international ‘final field’ Thoroughbred, Harness and Greyhound races where traditional Fixed Odds betting is also available. When is SP available from? SP betting is generally available from the time fields for relevant meetings are first published on the TABtouch mobile platform. How are the SP odds calculated? SP bets will receive the odds for the runner at the time betting on the race closes (i.e. at race jump). In the event a price cannot be sourced, all SP bets placed on the race shall be declared void and refunded. Where can I view the SP odds for the winning runner? The SP odds for the race winner will be shown on the results page for the event. When reviewing your resulted bets, successful wagers will also reference the SP odds. Can I have a Place or an Each Way bet at SP? Currently SP is available for win only betting. Who can use SP? Eligible TABtouch account holders transacting via the iPhone app, Android app or the www.tabtouch.mobi platform can place SP bets. What happens if my runner is scratched? If a runner you have placed a SP bet upon is scratched, your bet will be refunded. Do deductions apply to SP bets? In the event a runner in the race is scratched after betting has closed (i.e. declared a non-runner by order of the stewards officiating on-course), deductions may apply to winning SP bets. What happens if there’s a dead heat? Standard dead heat rules apply to SP bets in the event of runners tying for first place. What happens if there’s a protest? Winning SP bets will be paid out coinciding with the release of final dividends on the race so the result of any upheld protest will be taken into account. Can a SP bet form a leg of a Multi? SP wagers must be placed as individual transactions and can therefore not currently be included as a leg of a traditional Multi bet.
