The Cairns Taipans face a tough week without star guard Markel Starks who has been ruled out with a hamstring injury.  They host the New Zealand Breakers before travelling to Sydney to play the Kings and New Zealand appear formidable opponents in game one.  The teams have met only once this year with the Breakers dominating the Taipans (90-67) at home with Corey Webster scoring 35 points. In that match, Starks scored 13 points the second highest for Cairns and played more minutes than any of his teammates.

Prediction

New Zealand rebounded from their first home loss against the Hawks with a serviceable win against the Kings in a scrappy game played at the Olympic Stadium.  The Breakers covered the -7.5 spread winning (83-93) and are poised to take care of business against the Taipans.  Cairns are fresh, having the week off and in their most recent match, lost to the Cats at home (70-73) after leading for most of the game. The Breakers look more than capable of winning as away favourites here.
