Michael McDermott’s Weekend Preview Posted on October 21, 2016October 24, 2016 | Posted by Michael McDermott Mandurah Friday 21st October 2016 Race 7 – No. 3 Classy Diamond Race 9 – No. 3 Never In Kansas Race 11 – No. 7 Belfast Tommy Superpick – Profit Plus 25% (Place) Bet Now Cannington Preview Saturday 22nd October 2016 Race 1 – No. 5 West On Dossy One of the most consistent chasers in the state, if not the country, finishing in the top 4 in 62 of his 72 starts to date. He can be risky at box rise but if given plenty of room to move in running, he does possess a powerful finishing burst. He is dropping a long way in grade tonight and a podium finish should be expected from him again. Race 3 – No. 2 Monaro Monelli Heat one of the Group 2 All Starts Sprint sees the 2016 Mandurah Cup victor Monaro Monelli drawn ideally in the stripes. His main rival is drawn directly to his outside in Times Square but she is a risky beginner and with plenty of early toe on her outside, she may get lost back in the pack. Monaro Monelli should get the gun run just off early leaders down the back, make his move on the turn and breeze on by in the straight, proving far too classy for this line up. Race 4 – No. 4 Teddy Monelli Heat two of the Group 2 All Stars Sprint sees the next big thing in WA Greyhound racing Teddy Monelli tackle some very classy chasers. The Boom youngster had excuses when finishing 3rd in his only two tries at this distance but he has led all the way in a heat and final of the Distance Potential over the 600m in two runs since, smashing the track record in the process. With those confidence boosters under his belt, he will prove mighty hard to hold out at the finish. Race 5 – No. 2 Penny Monelli Trainer David Hobby will be hoping to make it a hat trick and in doing so, qualify 3 runners for the Group 2 All Stars Sprint Final next week. He has Penny Monelli entered in the third of the heats and she is just as good as her kennelmates, winning her last 4 on end, including a heat and final of the WA Bred Championship. She is unbeaten in stripes and only needs to keep out of trouble at the first turn to play a major role in the finish once again. Race 10 – No. 5 Gargle It – Superpick Profit Plus 25% (Place) The interestingly named runner from the Chris Halse kennel has been crying out for this distance after producing barnstorming finishes over the shorter 520m in recent times. At his only middle distance run at TABtouch Mandurah, he looked as though he was going to win on the turn before going amiss and pulling up worse for wear. He’ll be better for the experience and is definitely worth an each way ticket in this.
