Michael Heaton’s Saturday Broome Preview Posted on June 21, 2019June 21, 2019 | Posted by Michael Heaton Michael Heaton’s Preview Race 1 MEGAFACTORY gets a 4kg weight-swing on the all-conquering A GOOD PLAN here and the extra 100m is definitely in his favour. He’s capable of upstaging the talented Jake Casey-trained pair. The 1300m looks suitable for CORPORATE STRATEGY second-up and Bonnie Palise appears to have chosen to ride him over the stablemate. A GOOD PLAN has been dominant in his two wins this preparation but faces his toughest test to date here, while RED GLOW can improve sharply at his second run on the Pearl Coast for the season. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – MEGAFACTORY WIN Race 2 PAIR OF FIVEZ ran well at his first start on the Broome dirt last time out and the step-up to 1300m here looks ideal. STARALIGN has shown ability in his two metropolitan starts and could quite easily come out and brain them if he handles the dirt without issue. HIDDEN ADDICTION is another who appears likely to appreciate a rise in distance and should take natural improvement from his first-up effort. BROOKING SPRINGS hit the line well at Port Hedland last start and can do the same again here. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 8 – 1 Suggested Bet – PAIR OF FIVEZ EACHWAY Race 3 TOM ALMIGHTY worked to the line nicely behind the talented A Good Plan over an unsuitable 1200m last time out and looks very well-placed here. He drops in grade and is likely to relish the mile third-up from a spell. STAR OF VEGAS hit the line very well over a distance which is too sharp for him last start and will appreciate the rise in trip and 6kg pull on TOM ALMIGHTY here. PRUE is another who will benefit from the increase in distance and should be able to lead without pressure, while SLICK TALKER has his fair share of ability on his day. Numbers: 1– 6 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – TOM ALMIGHTY WIN Race 4 SONG OF VINCENT scored a nice win at his Broome debut last week and his previous metropolitan form suggests he can progress through the grades quite quickly. He drops 1.5kg from his last-start win and should prove hard-to-beat again. COLHOUN has showed above-average ability in his career to date and trialled very well at Belmont last month. FUTURIST meets SONG OF VINCENT worse at the weights for finishing second to him last start but can spring straight to the front and give some cheek again. AXEL FOLEY resumes and showed a great liking for the track last season. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet – SONG OF VINCENT WIN Race 5 JELANI EXPRESS has returned in fine fettle this preparation and meets ATACAMA SKY 1kg better for beating it last start. There’s nothing to suggest he shouldn’t be winning again. IN THE BAG looks suited dropping back from 1435m to 1200m off seven days and can give a sight out in front. ATACAMA SKY is suspect at 1200m and suspect in general but will probably still look the winner before putting the cue in rack once he gets sight of the finishing post. He’ll likely run a place. Again. And again. And again. SCARLET’S WEB was a nice all-the-way winner last time out and has placed in five of her six starts over the six furlongs previously. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – JELANI EXPRESS WIN Race 6 METALLIC BELLE has handled Broome without issue, continues to race in great form and can give another big sight here. Former Bob Peters owned-and-bred gelding SENTIMENTAL FRIEND could well end up in the Broome Cup come season’s end and a forward showing fresh wouldn’t surprise. MY TRADITION steps up in grade but drops 6kg and will appreciate the rise in distance, while ANDREINI is another who can improve second-up. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 8 – 4 Suggested Bet – METALLIC BELLE WIN Race 7 VIGNETO has won only once from 23 starts and that was 653 days ago but he handled the dirt well enough at his first Broome start last week, he meets RELUCTANT HERO 1kg better and the rise to a mile here is ideal. Stablemate FLAT BICCY was a beaten favourite in the same race last start but is racing well and has his fair share of ability. RELUCTANT HERO has won his last two but is a query at 1600m and may have to work early from the wide draw. NEVARDA ran some nice races at Broome last season and has some upside. Numbers: 10 – 1 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – VIGNETO EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2 2,3,4,6 2,3,4,8 1,2,10 Market Market
