Matt Young’s Thursday Wagin Preview Posted on April 17, 2025April 17, 2025 | Posted by Matt Young Race 1 LOU LAMOUR (5) has brilliant early speed and can cross this front line, will likely lead the event and from there be very hard to beat. The little horse has elevated in recent runs and will be able to carve out solid sectionals. WICKED HUSTLER (10) looks the main danger, had no luck in the Bridgetown Cup and should run a bold race but will have to do some work. INTO THE FUTURE (6) could improve and use his gate speed to get into a good position. MAJOR TYPHOON (1) is capable, but the early speed is an issue and on a foreign track. LITTLE MISS MOLLY (2) is a novelty chance. Tips: 5 10 6 1 Suggested Bet: LOU LAMOUR (5) to win. Race 2 DEE JAYS BIG BOY (6) won with authority last time out and if he carries that form into tonight, he will go close again, likely heads forward and will have to do some work. SUB MARINER (5) beat Dee Jays Big Boy at Narrogin a few starts ago, has the draw advantage and goes around at a bigger price, keep him safe. THE THIRSTY VET (8) is consistent but doesn’t win out of turn. OUR MUSICAL MOTION (10) will be running on strongly from the rear, she has been consistent as of late. BONNIE PAULINE (2) lacks early tactical speed but racing soundly. Tips: 6 5 8 10 Suggested Bet: DEE JAYS BIG BOY (6) to win. Race 3 MINOR CATASTROPHE (10) was a winner a few starts ago and since then stepped up in grade and hasn’t been disgraced in those races, she will have to overcome the tricky draw but has good closing speed and seems to run well for Briana Edman, keep her safe. RONA MAY (5) is a capable type who can do work in her races, likely works forward and will be right in the thick of it. HEAVENLY BLISS (1) has a lovely draw, can bounce back after disappointing on Sunday. BLOCKJORG (6) is capable but has been mixing her form, seems she is better suited to the shorter trips these days. STEP IT UP (7) is a novelty chance, following the rails. Tips: 10 5 1 6 Suggested Bet: HEAVENLY BLISS (1) to place. Race 4 Wide open race. GOTA GOOD WARHOL (2) comes into the perfect barrier draw, looks to lead and run a bold race, he is expected to bounce back after disappointing on Sunday, prior form had been consistent and strong. ALLWOODS CHEVRON (4) will improve in this, has plenty of speed and will become hardest to beat if he could cross. MY GRAND ANGUS (3) lacks early speed but can do the work in his races, drawn well and will be there at the business end. ISAIDBOO (7) has a lovely draw and will be dangerous with even luck, following the speed. KOPPER KOTE (5) has been racing well, first up for the new stable and should be kept safe. MEGA MACH (6) needs some luck from the draw. MISTER KOPA (10) was solid on Sunday, will be running on. Go wide in the quaddie. Tips: 2 4 3 7 Suggested Bet: GOTA GOOD WARHOL (2) each way. Race 5 Could be a bit of speed on early here in the Wagin Cup, which could suit COLD HARD CASH (9) his run in the Bridgetown Cup was solid and no reason he can’t add another Country Cup to his mantle piece, go close. RELLIM (8) is racing well but he had his chance in the Bridgetown Cup, likely to run into a similar scenario again here, strong podium chance. ROX THE WORLD (5) is fitter but runs into an awkward draw again, capable. SWAGGER MAN (7) returns and will be getting home strongly. MAJIC BAY (6) has a wide draw and is up in grade but is speedy and will be a novelty chance along with ALFREDI (3). Tips: 9 8 5 7 Suggested Bet: COLD HARD CASH (9) to win. Race 6 Another open race. I quite like the way BETTERTHAN SECRET (8) has been racing and has brilliant closing speed, she hit the line well last time out and there could be a genuine tempo in this which will suit her. CROWDED REACTOR (4) has been racing without any luck, make sure you include him in the quaddie and have a saver on him. POCKETFUL OF OPALS (5) is a major player, especially if she can cross them, her best is good enough. HENWOOD BAY (9) can do work in his races, he has been up in grade recently and will perform well here but prefer him in front and don’t see that happening for him. RECOVER LOVER (7) is a novelty chance. Tips: 8 5 9 4 Suggested Bet: BETTERTHAN SECRET (8) each way. Race 7 CODENAME ELLIOT (9) is racing well, he has been closing off strongly in recent runs and this looks a touch easier than recent runs and he can sustain a run in this grade. DIAMOND DANCE (6) is an improver this grade, but the draw is tricky. SPEED FORCE (4) goes around at a big price, looks a novelty chance. THE WHIZZER (7) was better last time out, novelty hope following along the rails. LOWLANDS BEACH BOY (1) has the draw to improve but has a few tricks. Tips: 9 6 4 7 Suggested Bet: CODENAME ELLIOT (9) each way Market Market
