Matt Young’s Friday Gloucester Park Preview Posted on April 23, 2026April 24, 2026 | Posted by Matt Young Race 1 LAST HARD COPY (12) was good in his most recent run, he has come back in good order and strikes his most suitable assignment, he has high speed but also the toughness required to do the work in this race and get the job done, very hard to beat off the back of a strong last run against good horses where he burnt the candle at both ends. SUGAR SHAKE (1) has the draw to lead and control, won’t be too far away. RUBY LOVERA (10) is fitter for the first up effort and drawn to get a soft run. ROX THE WORLD (2) has been a beaten favourite his last three, looks a novelty chance here with HI SUGA RUSH (7), HALE SAINT LOUIE (8) and VINITA ROSE (11). Tips: 12 1 10 2 Suggested Bet: LAST HARD COPY (12) to win. Race 2 IM LIGHTNING BANNER (12) is a horse I have a bit of time for; he has got a tricky draw to work with but is a horse with plenty of depth and looks a strong chance here. BELLY UP (8) is talented and capable and has the toughness to overcome doing some work in the race from the challenging draw, respect. FOLLOW ROCKNROLL (1) was a complete forgive last time out, his best is good enough to be cheeky in this and don’t think he’s far off that. LENORA JANE (2), DARK EYES (5), BETTOR ARCADE (6) and KURIOUS BOY (10) all novelty chances. Tips: 12 8 1 10 Suggested Bet: IM LIGHTNING BANNER (12) to win. Race 3 HIGH PRICE (8) caught the eye on return and must overcome a wide gate but is second up and has been racing stronger horses in his most recent form and think he will go well off the back of a strong return. A LITTLE SILENCE (4) looked to have his chance last time out, working through the grades nicely and must be respected. SWEET PINS (6) capitalised on the tempo suiting last time out, awkward draw but will be thereabouts. SPRING LINE (2) is a novelty chance with WHOS THE DAD (5) and BAZAAR PACKAGE (7). Tips: 8 4 6 2 Suggested Bet: HIGH PRICE (8) each way. Race 4 Open race here. FRANCO MOTU (9) wasn’t a bad effort from the draw in the Nullarbor, the handicap got the better of him in the Easter Cup and thought the distance and class would suit him nicely here and expect him to go well. CAPTAIN RAVISHING (1) has the nice draw and hasn’t been disgraced since returning, has the speed to lead and run well. MENEMSHA (4) hasn’t had the best luck since coming back but is highly talented and draw suggests he won’t be too far off the speed. BETTORS PRIDE (2) has come back soundly, distance a query in this grade with LAZI DAIS (3) who was poor last time out but could be driven for one run here, respect him. THELITTLE MASTER (5), MACHNIFICENT (6), TIGER ROYAL (7) all capable with the first and third mentioned racing strongly. ALTA TRIBUTE (8) is a distance type and think he’ll continue to improve. Tough one. Tips: 9 4 1 7 Suggested Bet: FRANCO MOTU (9) to win. Race 5 MAGNIFICENT STORM (1) was pressured into the ground last week and still battled on and ran a good third, he has been unplaced twice over this distance but has the draw, has the speed to lead and will take all types of catching. MINSTREL (8) likely rolls to the breeze again, first time in a long we’ve seen him weaken but he still wasn’t beaten far, strips fitter and must not be forgotten. GOLDEN LODE (10) is much shorter this week, has the nice draw and only concern would be early speed to hold the position if there is a burn. TRIEDTOTELLYA (2) creates interest but has drawn in close and is a chance. MAX DELIGHT (5) likely rolls forward and could be close enough again with chances to UBETCHA TIGERPIE (7), BULLETPROOF BOY (11) and GEE HEZA SPORT (12). Tips: 1 8 10 5 Suggested Bet: MAGNIFICENT STORM (1) to win. Race 6 Tough race to work out. MISS LEOPATRA (5) has beaten star filly Wishing Belle in previous runs but faces a tricky draw and racing the boys. IN RARE AIR (1) is still learning the caper but has the nice draw to feature. CHUGACH (2) is racing well and has early speed, a chance in this. AMERICAN FALCON (3) seems to have had his chances with how the race was run last time out. AMALFI KNIGHT (10) nicely draw and will be dangerous with any luck. WAKE UP GEOFF (7) find this a lot harder from the draw and TRIXIE DORA (12) a novelty chance. Tips: 10 5 1 2 Suggested Bet: AMALFI KNIGHT (10) each way. Race 7 FAKENIT (6) is probably better suited to a draw that she won’t have to go all out in the early stages, she lost no admirers last time out when she ran into a heap of trouble and still hit the line, think she will go well. AARDIEBYTHESEASIDE (4) has performed well from wide draws since returning and will be in a controlling position, not convinced she will lead but should go well. COPY CAT QUEEN (2) has come back well and looks a strong chance from the draw, could lead. COPPER HEAD LADY (1) was sound in her return with a trial win, bumps into some quality opposition here. ALTA ALLURE (3) was good after doing things wrong last time out, hit the line well, genuine knockout chance. CAPTAINSHAVTIME (8) find this more challenging from the draw. Tips: 6 2 4 3 Suggested Bet: FAKENIT (6) to win. Race 8 CHASE ME (10) has yet to dazzle since returning but looked more promising last time out and think the stands will suit his style, think he can be put into this and will look dangerous at some point. MY SILVER SPOON (7) battled on well after leading up the three wide line last week, seems suited to stands but just needs a safe getaway. LUVBITE (9) is racing well, battled on well after doing the work last time out. PETES HONOUR (12) faces a challenging handicap, but he can run the times to still be competitive. Novelty chances to whoever can win the charge to the first turn including FRANCO MECCA (1), TROIS FONTAINE (2), JILL MACH (4) and STATE MY CASE (6) can be thrown in the mix. Tips: 10 7 9 4 Suggested Bet: CHASE ME (10) to win. Race 9 FLY TO THE FINISH (6) has caught my eye with recent trials and think he is primed and ready for a strong return, looks a major player in this and is versatile. ART IDEAL (8) will be charging out again and forgive the last run, anything like two starts should see him more than handy. SAMMY SUFFARELL (11) can watch things unfold early and be put into it late, was luckless last run. RELLM (12) racing well but will have a tougher run from here. SUGAR STREET (3) is a novelty chance from the draw and chances to IDEAL TOMADO (4), SUN PUBLISHER (5), THE WAND WAVER (9) and JACKIE DANIELS (10). Tips: 6 8 11 12 Suggested Bet: FLY TO THE FINISH (6) to win. Market Market
