Harry Buchanan’s Thursday Greyhound Best Bets

NORTHAM

Race 8 No. 8 Bazinga Boy and No. 4 Comet Bay Katie

A couple for the arm here. The 8 needs to produce this time. Back over this short trip and well drawn to rush up out wide, if he leads first turn that will be it. The 4 was unlucky last start not to lead at Cannington. She goes well here and will again try and hold the front off a quick step. Hard to catch if she does.

Race 9 No. 5 Prime Martini

Hot and cold type who can be strong one week, run over the next. This is where she is suited with a few suspect 500 dogs and she is much better chasing. Good run last time and has raced much better dogs than this. Gets her chance to grab the winners cheque with a sub 30 effort here.

Race 10 No. 5 Barefoot Wah Wah and No. 3 Wise Dohne

The 5 bounced back last week with a good win here off the outside. Draw a little trickier this week but she has that good turn of foot that can offset the box if she steps. The 3 will run a cheeky race here. Shows up early and is a winner here so only has to drive up the fence to be a main player turning. Good price to play her as well.

SANDOWN PARK

Race 3 No. 7 Lakeview Lana

Consistent type who keeps finding the line without any spectacular gear change. Was caught outside a wide dog last time and pushed off when just missing 3rd and will again sustain a strong run home with a clear passage. EW go here.

Race 4 No. 1 Minter Frost and No. 2 Pickled Piper

The 1 is boxed to zoom up early and lead these with a lap to go. Runs good time and has a stack of ability to hit top 2 in this. Speaking of ability, don’t entirely dismiss the 2 here. She has a lot of talent and while this by far her hardest assignment at the grades, she makes fast and strong runs home and could sneak a run through here at huge odds. Small spec for her top 2.

Race 8 No. 5 Fab’s Vegetable and No. 6 Panda Mick

The 5 will look for the fence here and the sooner he gets it, the sooner he gets into his work. Very solid middle distance dog who is better than these but can be tardy early. He just needs to secure that run into the straight the first time. The 6 will look for the arm here and she can be hard to catch when she gets it. The last bit can see her out but any trouble behind could see her sneak away.

Race 9 No. 2 Kai Bale

Looks a race in two. He just looks to have a little more tactical speed than his main rival in 4 here. Cuts loose with a paralysing middle section over this trip and the small field plays right into his hands. Will be very hard to stop here if he’s remotely close up the back. He should be.
