Gloucester Park 26 February – Harness Preview Posted on February 26, 2016 | Posted by Trent Cooper Trent Cooper’s Tips Race 1: BOOK INTO THE BEAU RIVAGE AT GLOUCESTER PARK MS PACE THE ODD LOVER (10) has won 7 of his 13 career starts and looks set to win many more races. He has scored one win from his three runs since resuming with the two defeats inflicted by the smart Tricky Styx and Bettor Reward. He has an awkward draw to overcome but is clearly the one to beat. SPENDTHELOT (1) is racing well and must be considered from the pole. The unlucky STRAITTOTHEHILTON (5) and DUST ME OFF (2) are place chances. Tips: 10 1 5 2 Suggested Bet: THE ODD LOVER (10) to win. Race 2: WESTRAL MS PACE AVALON BROMAC (5) has been unplaced at his last five but he has been close up in most of those efforts. He was less than 6 metres from the winner when 5th to Walter James and has the barrier advantage over his main rivals tonight. SHIRLZ SENSATION (11) is clearly the best horse but has had only four starts in the last 22 months and has the outside draw over the sprint trip. TYPHOON TAN (10) has run 2nd at five of his last seven starts and will break through soon while the disappointing BLACK MR MACH (7) is normally about the place. Tips: 5 11 10 2 Suggested Bet: AVALON BROMAC (5) each way. Race 3: RETRAVISION TROTTERS DISCRETIONARY HANDICAP EARL OF CHARITY (11) suffered a rare standing start defeat last start when he did a fair bit of work in the run and knocked up late. He will appreciate only having a 30m handicap to overcome and is the one to beat. ARMED FORCE (4) resumed from a year long layoff with a strong win at Pinjarra and looks the main danger off the front. HOT HOLIDAY (12) was a good 2nd last start and will also appreciate the smaller handicap, while THE TRUTH (3) led throughout to win his last start but rises in class here. Tips: 11 4 12 3 Suggested Bet: EARL OF CHARITY (11) to win. Race 4: HI-TEMP SERVICES CONDITIONED HANDICAP SS PACE BETTOR OFFER (1) is a talented pacer who resumed from a 14 month absence when he was slowly away from his 30m handicap and ran a close 2nd to TANK YOU KINDLY (6). He beat Machtu in 1.53.0 to underline his ability last campaign and should be too good if he steps cleanly. PAY ME CULLEN (10) began poorly but was still too strong last start and is on the way up. SONIC CLASSIC (5) and MAXIMUM DEMAND (4) are very consistent and should be thereabouts again. Tips: 1 10 5 4 Suggested Bet: BETTOR OFFER (1) to win. Race 5: HEINEKEN MS PACE THAT’S RITE (10) has been scintillating when he has been on the pegs and disappointing when racing in the one wide line recently. His latest effort can be overlooked because he was caught well back in a sprint home but he should enjoy a soft run on the pegs tonight and could be value. MIGHTY FLYING THOMAS (2) is flying and will win one of these race soon. LORD LOMBO (1) chased home THAT’S RITE (10) last start and must be considered from the pole, while GOTTA GO YANKY (5) won a stand last start but is drawn a bit awkwardly here. Tips: 10 2 1 5 Suggested Bet: THAT’S RITE (10) each way. Race 6: VALE STEVE LOPRESTI MS PACE BETTOR RULES (4) resumed from a break with a strong win when he was forced to face the breeze. This field is collectively stronger but he may find the front and would be extremely hard to catch from there. LAGOON STRIDE (2) has gate speed and may dispute the early lead and his recent form is good enough for this. Stablemates IMA TRAGEDY (7) and EASTWOOD CRYSTAL (8) will need luck from their wide draws but both are racing well enough to figure with the right run in transit. Tips: 4 2 7 8 Suggested Bet: BETTOR RULES (4) to win. Race 7: GOVERNORS CUP MS PACE ELEGANT CHRISTIAN (7) put up two solid performance breezing outside CYAMACH (6) before his gate speed was really utilised at his last start when he sped to the front from a wide barrier and rated 1.53.9 for this distance. He is drawn wide again but is the one to beat on his latest effort. CYAMACH (6) has finished in the top two at his last six starts and will go close again. CHIEF THUNDERCLOUD (1) prefers stand events but must be considered from this draw, while DREDLOCK ROCKSTAR (2) is a place chance from his nice barrier. Tips: 7 6 1 2 Suggested Bet: ELEGANT CHRISTIAN (7) to win. Race 8: DEL BASSO SMALLGOODS EMPRESS STAKES MS PACE MAJOR REALITY (1) has been taking on vastly inferior fields but has been impressing with her closing sectionals. She looks the leader here and will be extremely hard to beat if she can get a cheap quarter somewhere in the race. THE PARADE (6) blitzed a nice field of mares in brilliant time at her last start but is drawn the worst of the main chances. QUITE A DELIGHT (3) looks to have plenty of ability and shouldn’t be far away at her first start against the best mares. TRICKY STYX (5) has been taking on and beating the boys, including a first class win in the Narrogin Cup and will be steaming home. Tips: 1 6 3 5 Suggested Bet: MAJOR REALITY (1) to win. Race 9: GANNONS PACING COLOURS 3YO MS PACE EL JACKO (6) has won five of his six Australian starts with the only defeat being a massive 2nd to Chicago Bull when he did things wrong. He will have to work from his wide barrier but still appeals as the one to beat. ALFS ODYSSEY (1) and JOHNNY DISCO (2) don’t have the class of EL JACKO (6) but can be in the finish by virtue of their good draws. MARY CATHERINE (4) is racing extremely well and won’t be far away. Tips: 6 1 2 4 Suggested Bet: EL JACKO (6) to win. Race 10: PRINCI BUTCHERS WESTBRED MS PACE TOMMY BE GOOD (4) was racing very consistently but broke through two starts back before going on with it in emphatic fashion when having all the favours in beating Showstopper by 16 metres. He is the best drawn of the main fancies and is capable of bringing up the hat-trick tonight. SPORTSNIGHT (5) takes on older rivals but his form against talented 3YO’s makes him a major player. PERSISTENT THREAT (10) is always a chance despite the draw, while ICY GRIN (8) has the ability but is better suited when he can race near the lead. Tips: 4 5 10 8 Suggested Bet: TOMMY BE GOOD (4) to win. Bet Now!
