Glenn Ingram’s Saturday Mornington Preview Posted on April 16, 2026April 16, 2026 | Posted by Glenn Ingram RACE 1 Even field outside of the impressive debut winner THE SPEED MACHINE who looks ideally placed from the low draw to repeat his effort at Morphettville. KNURL has excellent speed and comes across to either lead or sit OSL and they look to control the race. ZYNARO was the pick of the debutantes for Chris Waller and BLUE METEOR has also shown ability at the jumpouts leading into his debut. LUNA VEGA brings race experience and good form. Selections: 2,1,7,3 Suggested Bet: THE SPEED MACHINE win RACE 2 Good race. STREET ARTIST and SUN SETTING both resume, both locally-trained, both owned by Yulong and both have bigger targets ahead. No rider yet for the mare, the Freedman-trained 3YO won a fast maiden here last campaign and draws to stalk a fast speed, he was my pick. The mare will be handy also, she appears destined for black type racing somewhere in coming weeks. DEEPFLOAT DIVA and ALWAYS ENUFF have jumped out well to return, worth respecting. Selections: 13,11,8,4 Suggested Bet: STREET ARTIST win RACE 3 Toughest race of the day. If the track is dry, GELLHORN can improve significantly second-up after failing on the heavy at Pakenham, jumped out well prior, leading chance. ACTUALITY can also bounce back after failing up the straight fresh, not for the first time. BODY OF VENUS is a mare in form and beat a subsequent winner at Ararat last start, she will need to sit closer to use the draw. CLAYMORE MINE best of the locals. Selections: 2,7,3,1 Suggested Bet: Exotics RACE 4 MILOS FILOS was beaten but ran very well in town behind a potential stakes winner, she’s on the up and a genuine threat to likely leader ARLINGTON ROW who is well-placed off the inside draw with Linda Meech, building a good profile but she is three weeks between runs, so fitness query. CHATEAU EZE was heavily-backed last start and failed, worth another chance but is becoming costly. SHYSTAR and NAIFAH have both shown up at the jumpouts to return. Selections: 10,8,5,3 Suggested Bet: MILOS FILOS 1 x 3 RACE 5 Just an even tempo. A DIVA may get a soft lead and that’s her advantage. THIS TIME GIRL is yet to fire for the Begg stable, this appears her best opportunity sitting handy in the run. COCO JEN is one of many leading chances from the Matt Laurie team on the day, she goes well fresh and has had three jumpouts to resume, sure to be fit for the mile and hitting the line hard. BON MISTRESS also has winning claims. Selections: 4,7,5,3 Suggested Bet: Exotics RACE 6 Speed should be ok, OPENING ADDRESS and HOWLIN’RAIN go forward. The two backmarkers TAUNG and WONDER BOY will need a good rides but I see TAUNG as the horse to beat if he’s not dragged back to last, can be slow away, possibly more genuine than WONDER BOY the local whose had many chances and only won the two races to date, cant fault his recent form. UNTIL VAHALLA swoops late if they go hard up front. Selections: 11,3,9,7 Suggested Bet: TAUNG win RACE 7 PAVLICH destroyed a 0-62 field at Bendigo in the manner of a horse going places and has been aimed up at the Guineas, hard held in a recent jumpout between runs, expect him on-speed and giving a sight. Alongside him will be SATIRICALLY another to win impressively last start at Sandown switching down from Sydney. The wide draw no disadvantage. BERLEMONT was impressive on debut, excuses last time, now looking for the mile, well drawn. GRAND OMAHA is a mare in form for a leading local stable, deserves respect. Selections: 7,2,4,12 Suggested Bet: PAVLICH each way RACE 8 The Easter Cup is the key form reference for this race. AMBASSADORIAL is hard to knock, fit and flying and with his positive racing style he’s again the one to beat sitting outside leader SEA WHAT I SEE. KINGS VALLEY was supported at odds in the Easter Cup and got too far back, can see him settling closer with his good draw. BRAYDEN STAR can run on if they go quick up front, he’s been mixing his form. A race of many chances. Selections: 7,12,15,2 Suggested Bet: AMBASSADORIAL win RACE 9 Big field, many hopes. A genuine speed is expected. MARBLE NINE won his maiden here, failed at stakes level last time in only two runs and perhaps didn’t come up, recent jumpouts have been excellent which is his standard. Handles all surfaces and giving him a shout first-up in an open race. LA FRACAS also likes this circuit and has a big turn of foot, he’ll be hoping they can run on out wide on the course late in the day. RECON lands a pair back behind the speed if good enough. Selections: 5,12,17,7 Suggested Bet: Exotics RACE 10 This race should be run hard. DUCHESS ZOU is the best bet on the card, now ready to strike third-up, a profile she’s won off previously and finds her race, any softening of the track increases her chances. NIMBUSTWOTHOUSAND is flying for the Bedggood stable he too would prefer it soft, the speed up front helps to bring him home down the middle. CASTLE ON HIGH is a good galloper with a perfect draw, he’s been quiet at the jumpouts to return, need a push from the yard to see where his fitness at. ELOUYOU has jumped out well to return. Selections: 10,6,9,2 Suggested Bet: DUCHESS ZOU win Market Market
