Deane’s Flemington Saturday Selections Posted on June 24, 2016June 27, 2016 | Posted by Deane Lester Deane Lester’s Preview RACE 4 NO. 1 SPIETH Exciting Sydney sprinter SPIETH is aiming for a hat-trick of wins when he contests the Goulburn Murray Handicap (1100m) and should prove hard to beat again. The Bryce Heys trained colt has been dominant in recent wins at Kembla Grange and Rosehill, sprinting hard at the end of both of his victories. This looks a very good option for him to continue on his winning way and Craig Williams renews his association with SPIETH, having guided him to his maiden victory at Pakenham in September 2015. He looks destined for stakes class and SPIETH can win again. RACE 5 NO. 6 DEL PRADO DEL PRADO was a genuine hardluck story when finishing 2nd behind JACQUINOT BAY over 1400 metres at Flemington on June 11 and can make amends for that defeat when he runs in the Brian Beattie Handicap (1400m). The Leon and Troy Corstens trained gelding raced in restricted room over the final 300 metres and only got clear in the final stages. It was his best run for the campaign and he tends to hold his form once he hits his peak. He meets a similar field and looks ideally placed to record his ninth career victory. RACE 6 NO. 8 EURO ANGEL EURO ANGEL is an exciting off-season prospect for Team Hawkes and looks the one to beat when she runs in the Western Otway Handicap (1600m). The daughter of Rip Van Winkle resumed from a spell with a brilliant win over 1400 metres at Flemington on June 11. The best part of her win was the strength she displayed over the final stages suggesting a step up in distance should be ideal. Whilst she has drawn poorly, the rain affected conditions may negate that as the inside part of the track chops up during the day. She only needs reasonable luck and EURO ANGEL appeals as one of the better bets of the day. Bet Now
