Deane Lester’s Flemington Best Bets Posted on May 17, 2019 | Posted by Deane Lester Deane Lester’s Best Bets RACE 5 NO.9 BEGOOD TOYA MOTHER Progressive sprinter BEGOOD TOYA MOTHER looks well placed to continue on his winning way when he tackles the Benchmark 78 Handicap (1400m). The son of Myboycharlie took his record to four wins from eight starts when he scored an effortless win in fast time over 1400 metres at Sandown on April 22. Since his last start win, the Daniel Bowman trained gelding trialled strongly over 800 metres at Horsham on May 10 which has kept him primed for another big showing in this race. Whilst he is likely to start the shortest priced favourite of the day at Flemington, BEGOOD TOYA MOTHER should justify his price and win again. RACE 7 NO.15 MADE ME SHIVER The value runner at the Flemington meeting looks to be MADE ME SHIVER when she contests the Three Year Old Handicap (2000m). The Danny O’Brien trained filly should be fitter for two runs back from a spell and comes off a solid last start 2nd with 60.5kg behind TIGEEN over 1715 metres at Geelong on April 28. She drops 6kg off that run, should appreciate a step up in distance and looks drawn for a cheap run. International rider Brett Prebble is re-establishing himself in Melbourne and is building an allegiance with the O’Brien stable. MADE ME SHIVER has always displayed the talent to win a race of this standard and represents terrific each way value. RACE 9 NO.3 PACODALI PACODALI looks to have returned to racing in good form and gets his chance to record his 7th career victory when he runs in the Open Handicap (2000m). The six year old has been very competitive in two runs this campaign and should now be close to peak fitness. His last start 4th behind MANTASTIC over 1800 metres at Flemington on May 4 was full of merit as he was forced to make an early move and just peaked on his run over the final 100 metres. This looks a very suitable race, he will enjoy a cheap run from barrier one and gets the benefit of promising apprentice Teo Nugent’s 3kg claim. He’s a reliable horse in this grade that will run well again. Market Market
