Deane Lester’s Caulfield Best Bets Posted on April 17, 2020 | Posted by Deane Lester RACE 2 NO.1 TWITCHY FRANK TWITCHY FRANK is striving to defend her title when she runs in the VOBIS Gold Distaff (1400n). The five year old has been a model of consistency throughout her career and comes off a brave last start 3rd behind SNOGGING in the Bendigo Gold Bracelet (1400m) on March 28. Whilst she has been winless this campaign, TWITCHY FRANK continues to perform well and will make her own luck from a good draw with Mark Zahra in the saddle. It looks a thin race for winning chances and TWITCHY FRANK should prove hard to beat. RACE 4 NO.1 MR QUICKIE MR QUICKIE has a class edge on his rivals when he contests the VOBIS Gold Heath (2000m) and looks the standout bet of the day. Last year’s Queensland Derby winner should be fitter for two runs this campaign which includes a luckless last start 10th behind NETTOYER in the Group One Doncaster Mile (1600m) at Randwick on April 18. He will appreciate a sharp class drop and should relish a rise in distance. The Philip Stokes trained gelding is a very good stayer that won this race last year and should dominate this field. RACE 6 NO.12 MISS INBETWEEN The second running of the VOBIS Gold Showdown (1200m) has brought together an even field of two year olds and there might be a value opportunity when MISS INBETWEEN takes her place in the field at double figure odds. The daughter of Fighting Sun recorded placings over 1200 metres and 1300 metres at Sandown at her first two starts showing that she has talent and also a good grounding over slightly longer distances. At her last run, she found the distance too short but still did enough when finishing 7th behind SWATS THAT in the VOBIS Gold Rush (1000m) at Bendigo on March 28. She will appreciate a step up in distance, wears blinkers for the first time and elite rider Ben Melham takes the mount. In a hard race MISS INBETWEEN will give a great showing at good odds.
