Deane Lester’s Caulfield Best Bets Posted on February 7, 2020 | Posted by Deane Lester Deane Lester’s Best Bets RACE 2 NO.3 AQUITAINE The Kevin Hayes Stakes (1200m) for the three year old fillies has brought together a terrific field full of depth, however the Sydney visitor AQUITAINE makes appeal at each way odds. The daughter of Exceed and Excel has built a solid record of three wins and two placings from 6 starts to date and is a winner of her only start over 1200 metres. The James Cummings trained galloper has trialled well at Flemington since her last start and looks drawn for a good run with champion rider Damian Lane taking the ride. She’s a smart filly that will run well again. RACE 6 NO.10 ANAHEED Quality filly ANAHEED looks a great winning chance when she contests the Rubiton Stakes (1100m). The Peter and Paul Snowden trained galloper came of age during the Melbourne spring, firstly winning the Blue Sapphire Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on October 16 before running a brave 3rd from a wide draw in the Group 1 Manikato Stakes (1200m) at The Valley on October 25. She is a first-up winner, should enjoy a great run just behind the likely speed runners and leading Sydney rider Tim Clark takes the ride. On a strong program, ANAHEED appeals as the best bet of the day. RACE 7 NO.5 GUIZOT Veteran performer GUIZOT has returned to racing in terrific form and gets his chance to return to the winners list when he tackles the Carlyon Cup (1600m). The seven year old should be at peak fitness following three runs back from a spell and gets to his pet distance of 1600 metres at Caulfield, a track and distance that is unbeaten after two runs. It looks a race that will be dominated by the leaders and GUIZOT should position in the first four in running and prove hard to beat at nice odds. Market Market
