Deane Lester’s Caulfield Best Bets Posted on September 27, 2019September 27, 2019 | Posted by Deane Lester Deane Lester’s Best Bets RACE 1 NO.7 CAMELLE CAMELLE is fitter for two runs back from a short break and will appreciate a significant class drop when she runs in the Fillies and Mares BM 84 Handicap (1400m). The Pat Carey trained mare was a $101 chance when finishing 2nd behind MY PENDANT over 1400 metres at Caulfield on August 31. She was then outgraded but not disgraced when finishing 8th behind SPANISH WHISPER in the Let’s Elope Stakes (1400m). She is down in class, rises in distance which looks ideal and gets the services of Damian Lane which is a real bonus. It’s an even race but CAMELLE appeals as a safe each way gamble. RACE 4 NO.10 ADMIRAL’S JOKER ADMIRAL’S JOKER has returned to racing in good form and looks a great winning chance when he runs in the Open Handicap (1400m). The seven year old resumed from a spell with a big win over 1118 metres at Geelong on September 15. That was his fourth win from just 11 career starts and he has been very well placed by trainer Kylie Vella. He will enjoy stepping up in distance, drops 5.5kg on his last run and champion rider Craig Williams takes the mount. He has a terrific turn of foot at the end of his races and can measure up to this grade. RACE 8 NO.15 SPECIAL REWARD The Testa Rossa Stakes (1200m) is a fascinating race with a variety of different formlines from four different states, however the WA representative SPECIAL REWARD is well up to this grade and can score a first-up win. The four year old has won 6 of his 9 starts to date and has run very fast times in all of his victories. He trialled strongly over 950 metres at Lark Hill on September 9 defeating subsequent Makybe Diva Stakes winner GATTING. He should race close to the pace and looks a great winning chance at each way odds. Market Market
