Darren Clayton’s Friday Albion Park Preview Posted on March 31, 2022March 31, 2022 | Posted by Darren Clayton RACE 1 RED CASTLETON (6) was charging home last start along the passing lane for a narrow 2nd which followed a smart first up win. The mobile conditions are ideal. KAR MANOR (1) was mighty brave last start when forced to do all the work and was only narrowly beaten. Good mobile manners and the gate advantage are big assets. GARLAND GREENE (5) is one horse that will really appreciate a return to the big oval with 17 of his 18 career wins here at The Creek, the other coming two starts back in a tough effort at Redcliffe. DOUG (7) was trotting cleanly for a period but has gone back to some wayward tendencies, his chances are manners related. SELECTIONS: 6-1-5-7 SUGGESTED BET: RED CASTLETON (6) to win RACE 2 BETTERTHANDIAMONDS (2) is a big winner at the barrier draw after two runs back from a spell have been from tough gates. Claiming 2nd in both return runs, she should be in front and she should be winning. MOLLIESMARYELLE (1) delivered a big first over crush at Redcliffe two starts back but was not suited at Marburg last time. This alley can see her stalk the speed throughout. BLISSFULL LILLY (5) scored an all the way win two starts back but faces a sticky gate from the centre of the line. SPIRITED BELLE (8) will need a slice of luck from this alley but back to The Creek where her record is 3 from 3 is a big plus. SELECTIONS: 2-1-5-8 SUGGESTED BET: BETTERTHANDIAMONDS (2) to win RACE 3 PELOSI (1) may have three G1 wins and is closing in on $500k in earnings, but she can still sneak into this grade and comes up with the ace gate. A last start Menangle winner, she should be too classy. THE DARLING (4) snuck through along the passing lane to score on Tuesday to take her Qld record to 4 wins in 5 attempts and despite the gate looks the best challenger. VALKYRIE (7) makes her Qld debut, arriving a four-time winner and looked sharp in a workout on this track to prepare. HAMMERTIME HARLEY (2) is knocking on the door in this grade with another 2nd placing last start. SELECTIONS: 1-4-7-2 SUGGESTED BET: PELOSI (1) to win RACE 4 OBI ONE (1) looks to have found the conditions to claim his first Qld victory and can bring some tidy form, the latest a game effort when working hard after sitting parked. GLENLEDI BOY (3) was again strong to the line last week at Redcliffe when only a neck in arrears of the winner after racing wide and looms large in this contest. THE IRISH EAGLE (8) should secure the soft trip here and be ready to use the passing lane to make a play. THE HERVEY BAY (4) was hitting the line in nice order last time out with the return to headquarters aiding his chances. SELECTIONS: 1-3-8-4 SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-3-4-8 RACE 5 JUDDY DOUGLAS (1) was always facing a task from gate 6 at Redcliffe last start which was made tougher when the tempo took the race away from the chasers. The gate, the mile, the big deck- it all looks in favour of Big Juddy. THREE IN HEAVEN (8) was only grabbed in the last stride by Keayang Marven last start and will be glued to the back of Juddy, waiting for the gaps. FALCONS (6) steps up in grade for this assignment but his Qld form cannot be undersold with two wins and a narrow 2nd. SHADOW MINISTER (5) led throughout last start at Marburg however the map looks against him here. SELECTIONS: 1-8-6-5 SUGGESTED BET: JUDDY DOUGLAS (1) to win RACE 6 CLASS TO THE MAX (1) faces his biggest test as a 3YO stepping up, but with the benefit of the gate to dictate can show his class. Last raced in Mid-February when runner up to Leap To Fame, his own share of ability can shine. GOOD AS IT GETS (8) was only beaten 3m last start when hitting the line in nice order following a luckless Marburg run with the economical trip looking ideal. CAPTAINS PICK (10) does his best work on this track so should enjoy the wider expanses. AMILLION PROMISES (6) was beaten the barest possible margin on Tuesday but is given no favours from this alley. SELECTIONS: 1-8-10-6 SUGGESTED BET: CLASS TO THE MAX (1) to win RACE 7 WILL THE WIZARD (7) was never suited last start at Redcliffe which had followed a 2m margin here at The Creek. Its hard to get a read on exactly where he is at, made no easier by gate 7, however the drop to this grade can be the catalyst for a turnaround. BITCOIN (4) is probably going better than the numerical form suggests, his win four runs back a classy effort out in front. FEELINGFORARAINBOW (5) is fresh from a spell but is also likely to enjoy this grade after his last start in open company. COMMODORE JUJON (1) is never far from the action and puts in his best every start. The gate gives him the chance to chime in. SELECTIONS: 7-4-5-1 SUGGESTED BET: WILL THE WIZARD (7) to win RACE 8 WATTS UP SUNSHINE (5) was back in the pack last start at Redcliffe and while he finished in good order wide off the track, he did not look fully comfortable. He will need to be at his best but the big oval will help. BIG WHEELS (4) was given a workout here over this trip last Wednesday when runner-up from the pocket trail behind Juddy Douglas. After copping gate 7 at his past two, the improved gate is a big help. INFATUATION (3) grabbed 2nd last start which had followed a smart win over the 2040m at Redcliffe, with the longer home stretch helping. KEAYANG MARVEN (11) can have his last start struck off after making an error. A winner his previous two in succession, he is the swooper. SELECTIONS: 5-4-3-11 SUGGESTED BET: WATTS UP SUNSHINE (5) to win RACE 9 SPEECH IS SILVER (10) overcame gate 6 last start at Redcliffe when owning superior closing power to descend on them. He faces the tough gate here, but the tempo should be in his favour. IDEAL WORLD (4) scored over the 2138m four runs back when taking them all the way. Much better suited here at The Creek, he is going well and has early power. STAR GALLERIA (7) has two wins and a second since arriving in Qld, with both wins from the front end. The gate makes it tough to claim a third. BLACKSADANCE (2) lands his opportunity to turn his season around after factors have been against him in his three appearances. If he takes control and keeps the power on, the race will be on. SELECTIONS: 10-4-7-2 SUGGESTED BET: SPEECH IS SILVER (10) to win RACE 10 LOMBO HEAVEN (4) loves to roll in front and looks to have found suitable conditions. With two runs prior to a spell from tricky gates, #LeaderPeter can do his thing. IT AINT THE MONEY (10) has been in nice touch this season including an all the way win two back. Forced to do it too tough behind Tommy Lincoln last time, he can do some chasing. HANDSOME HERO (6) was first up from a spell last start when looking for the cheapest way home. The gate makes it tough. MAJOR GENERALJUJON (1) was beaten in the last stride last week when trying to lead throughout and should enjoy an economical trip. SELECTIONS: 4-10-6-1 SUGGESTED BET: LOMBO HEAVEN (4) to win Market Market
