Darren Clayton’s Albion Park Preview Posted on December 10, 2021December 10, 2021 | Posted by Darren Clayton RACE 1 CHASING THE WIND (3) owned the best closing speed last start after securing a perfect run. That followed a pair of runs from tough gates and he has the gate to settle close enough here. IT AINT THE MONEY (1) has a good record over this trip and gains an all-important barrier improvement after copping the 2nd line his past 2 starts. OHOKA CHOPPER (5) won a qualifier last week after setting the speed from gate 4. He will need to ne at his best for this. KEY LARGO (10) wilted last start after being required to charge the arm and the toll from gate 6 was too great. He will be trailing through this time. SELECTIONS: 3-1-5-10 SUGGESTED BET: CHASING THE WIND (3) to win RACE 2 GOVERNOR JUJON (1) will take further benefit from his latest outing having his 6th run of the season that has been spread over 2 campaigns. He owns gate speed, he just has not drawn to use it on many occasions in his career and the 2138m is his pet trip. DEUS EX (9) was back in winning form last start to stretch his record at the track to 4 from 6 after his previous 2 starts dented his strike-rate. The 2nd line makes his task much tougher. SCARLET BABE (8) was 3rd against the FFA performers last start and looks set to secure the ideal trip in transit here. KASH US BACK (3) loves topping the sectionals board every week but cant convert it into a win. SELECTIONS: 1-9-8-3 SUGGESTED BET: GOVERNOR JUJON (1) to win RACE 3 EL AGUILA (3) is a gazelle out of the machine and maps for his opportunity to settle up on the engine. 6m from the winner BIG WHEELS last start, he comes up with the opportunity to cash-in. ROCK FISHERMAN (8) loomed strongly last start but was unable to see it out in finishing as the runner-up. He will be requiring some luck in running to see open space. STREITKID (7) shoots for a hat-trick after winning his past 2 starts in front. His early speed needs to be see. WESTAR SAM (4) is a last start winner that draws a solid gate to search for threepeat of wins. SELECTIONS: 3-8-7-4 SUGGESTED BET: EL AGUILA (3) to win RACE 4 THE ROCKNROLL KING (10) comes up with a tough gate but finds the right type of race for a breakthrough. The distance suits and his run last start behind Big Wheels was full of merit. SHADOW MINISTER (4) took them all the way last start over the mile with his record at the middle distance more than handy from limited attempts. NOTORIOUS (5) was wide trying to find racing position last start and was eventually snagged back. Gunned down as favourite when trying to see it out, his record at this trip asks plenty of questions. THE IDEAL DANCER (3) found Gleneagle Warrior a little too slippery last start but his win 3 starts back was a stylish victory. SELECTIONS: 10-4-5-3 SUGGESTED BET: THE ROCKNROLL KING (10) to win RACE 5 WILL THE WIZARD (3) can press forward and the right to be the leader could be his for the taking. Another tough FFA contest where his chances will rest on the expense of securing a top spot. NORTHVIEW HUSTLER (1) was bereft of any luck whatsoever 2 starts back when a tragedy beaten. Atoning that disappointment here last week with a sizzling win in front, he may need a rub of the green. TURN IT UP (2) has handed over at his past 2 starts and been stronger to the line as a result, including a 2nd to Mach Da Vinci in the Qld Cup. Electric off the gate, the options will be his. BLACKSADANCE (9) took the race by the scruff of the neck last start in a power running 1.50.9 mile. Positioning cheaply will be key. SELECTIONS: 3-1-2-9 SUGGESTED BET: WILL THE WIZARD (3) to win RACE 6 MOLLYS SECRET (8) was fighting gamely last start when 2nd to the flying machine Majorca. With the likelihood of the cheap trip, she can make the closing shot a winning one. MAGGIE (5) finished 3rd in the same race when chasing home Majorca last week and has been doing well from tough gates. JEWEL OF PEAK (1) looks the leader of this race and she too comes from that same mares contest of last week. Drawing the pegs is a big bonus to her chances. FLIGHT CREW (7) grafted out a strong victory when parked last start. She cannot be ruled out despite the carpark starting position. SELECTIONS: 8-5-1-7 SUGGESTED BET: MOLLYS SECRET (8) to win RACE 7 UNCLE SHANK (5) was not originally the top-pick but after the driver declarations that has seen Pete McMullen stick with this guy, he comes out on top. A super record of 9 from 12 all here on this track, he brings a last start G2 victory to the table. BIG WHEELS (1) is in search of a threepeat of wins with the gate giving him every opportunity to capitalise. Leading throughout at his past 2 starts, he will be fighting. SCOTCH EN ICE (8) made it 3 on the bounce here in a mid-week contest when leading all the way. He maps for the cosiest of trips to produce late off. MANILA PLAYBOY (4) was runner-up again last week to make it 3 in a row where he has had to settle for the silver. He is flying and just needs the smallest rub of the green to turn it around. SELECTIONS: 5-1 8-4 SUGGESTED BET: UNCLE SHANK (5) to win RACE 8 BUKTHSYSTEM (9) looks set to secure the perfect trip through from the 2nd line to settle in a handy position. The tempo looks set to be generated on the front line, which opens his closing speed. SHADYS DELIGHT (1) was trying to lead throughout in his heat of this series Final but was unable to see it out. The ace gives him plenty of benefits to look for his first win this campaign. MAGICOL IDEAL (3) was a heat winner when defying the 2nd line on the tight Marburg track to claim victory. GOALKICKER (7) has the tough gate to overcome but she has worked into some form of recent times that includes 3 placings in recent starts. SELECTIONS: 9-1-3-7 SUGGESTED BET: BUKTHSYSTEM (9) to win RACE 9 CARNERA (2) steps up in grade from what he has been meeting, but he draws ahead of his main dangers and from the 10m tape looks ideally placed to complete a threepeat of victories. DOUG (3) was much better last start in chiming in to grab 3rd. He is a hard follow owing to his terrible manners but this would be within reach, at anywhere near his best. MATATOKI (1) is usually a safe beginner that gets quickly into his stride. The front tape advantage cannot be under stated. CLAUDYS PRINCE (7) is jammed up out the back from the 30m tape but he is hitting good areas, including a 2m margin behind Sir Fahrenheit last start. SELECTIONS: 2-3-1-7 SUGGESTED BET: MATATOKI (1) to place RACE 10 HARPS (4) has appreciated the services of #LeaderPeter and been able to score victory in 3 of his past 5 starts since the nations leading driver took the seat. A big PB winner in front last start, he can make it another victory here. STOMPEM (5) had no early speed last start and was left to try to chase. Gunned down in front 2 starts back, it is a sticky gate but he can look to make the most of his chances. HANDSOME HERO (8) is probably in more conversation if he draws anywhere bar the gate he does draw. In some nice form that includes a recent win and placings, he will be trying to extricate from the poles early. FRANCO HAMPTON (6) loves to run it hard and throw it down in front. A winner 4 start back in a similar contest SELECTIONS: 4-5-8-6 SUGGESTED BET: HARPS (4) to win Market Market
