Chris Nelson’s Saturday Rosehill Preview Posted on August 1, 2024August 1, 2024 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 Racing at Rosehill on Saturday will be run on wet surface with more rain around this week. Going with LADY BOSS in this opening race, she bolted in first up in midweek company before planted wide throughout yet still finding the line gamely at Randwick in this grade last start. Based on that the additional trip shouldn’t prove to be any concern. MICKEY’S MEDAL is racing so consistently, just up in the weights a little today however the claim helps. Ex Irish galloper CAPTAIN MAVERICK a definite market watch. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet: LADY BOSS TO WIN (small bet). RACE 2 Sticking with PLUCKTEN in this week’s Midway who I did tip last Saturday however he didn’t end up going around. Lightly raced & building a good record I liked what he did when winning at Hawkesbury last start & he certainly appears to have plenty of upside. SILVANITO is busting to win having placed second his last 3 starts, right in the hunt should he gain a start. PUTT FOR DOUGH is very consistent this level. Numbers: 9 – 17 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 3 Was keen on VIVY AIR last Saturday & she was extremely well supported before being scratched at midday due to the heavy track downgrade. She’s trialled very well & if not for bad luck would have won first up last prep at Flemington. With J.Mac on from the good gate she looks very hard to beat. KANDINSKY ABSTRACT cost plenty in the sales ring however as yet hasn’t looked like reaching the same levels as his star relation, returns a gelding here which might make all the difference? Just can’t catch DIPSY DOODLE however we know she’s good enough when in the mood. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet: VIVY AIR TO WIN RACE 4 Big field going around in this week’s Highway although that’s nothing new! INTERVARSITY is the runner who creates the most interest having won both outings late last year by decent margins leading throughout. No knock on that however the form out of those races going forward hasn’t been strong. I’m siding with the race fit LONHRO’S QUEEN who has won 3 of her 4 starts this prep which includes the latest which was her over this trip in this company. Inside draw not ideal, she will need a touch of luck. POINT BASSE in the mix on his race day form, resumes here & his lead up trials haven’t been encouraging. Numbers: 12 – 11 – 3 – 14 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 5 Happy to suggest there were two main chances in this race being HELLAVADANCER & LADY BOSS however with the latter going around in an earlier race my decision has been made much easier! HELLAVADANCER was very unlucky at Randwick 3 weeks again when running second behind Defining. She travelled well along the fence however just couldn’t get clear at a crucial stage in the straight running on late, likely wins with better luck. NANSHE an improver, another who had little luck last start. Numbers: 1 – 8 – 5 – 10 Suggested Bet: HELLAVADANCER TO WIN. RACE 6 Average line up of stayers here. UNANIMOUS looks to have found the right race stepping up to 2000m. Already a winner over the longer trip he should have finished closer last start after being held up, peaking now from an ideal draw he gets all the ticks. FATHER’S DAY will always give a big sight out front, excuses the latest (lame). Numbers: 4 – 3 – 8 – 12 Suggested Bet: UNANIMOUS TO WIN. RACE 7 Can’t tip against SPRING LEE here. Not raced for almost 80 days she has had a lead-up trial which was in Group company clocking in 3rd behind Joliestar & Caballus with none of the trio doing anything other than ‘jogging’ down the straight. She has a very good record to date, a ton of upside & from that gate likely settles closer than both runs last prep. COMPELLING TRUTH is flying & likely the one SPRING LEE will need to gun down, he’s very quick as we saw at Grafton. STROMBOLI in the mix fresh. Numbers: 9 – 4 – 3 – 10 Suggested Bet: SPRING LEE TO WIN. RACE 8 MORE SECRETS put in a cracking run here last start making up good ground to beat all bar the winner JOJO WAS A MAN & here they are meeting once again with a 3.5kg weight turnaround in favour of MORE SECRETS for the closing 0.4L defeat. Most of her recent racing has been in Group 1, 2 & 3 events which sets her up nicely for this. ROBUSTO surprised winning fresh as he generally takes a run, he’s obviously come back well & the claim brings him in with a chance here. TESTATOR SILENS gets in very light. Numbers: 8 – 4 – 14 – 1 Suggested Bet: MORE SECRETS EACH-WAY. RACE 9 Tough race. Safest way out may be with the very consistent KAZOU who resumed here recently when well backed, finding the front & kicking on too well to score. She’s been to this trip twice before for as many wins & shouldn’t have any trouble quickly putting herself up on the speed once again. The consistent CONTEMPORARY a logical danger, he’ll be very strong to the line as is the norm with him. DANAUSTAR does rise in grade however will be peaking third-up, draws well & drops in weight. Numbers: 10 – 3 – 13 – 1 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 10 Just keep coming back to the consistent LITTLE COINTREAU who has won twice & placed twice from his 4 starts this time in & in a 12-start career has missed a top 3 spot only once! Gate 1 might not be the best draw for him due to his off-speed pattern however with a touch of luck he’ll find a clear path. His rivals struggle to strong two decent runs together, SILVANITO the exception to that however he has to deal with a wide alley. DANAUSTAR not hopeless from the car park gate should he run here & not in the previous. Numbers: 11 – 12 – 2 – 13 Suggested Bet: LITTLE COINTREAU TO WIN (small bet). Market Market
