Chris Nelson’s Saturday Rosehill Preview Posted on June 13, 2024June 13, 2024 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 Rain is forecast both Friday & Saturday in Sydney, track will be wet however as to what degree is unknown at this stage. Not a great draw for SWIFTFALCON however at good odds I’m suggesting something small each-way as both runs have been solid finishing efforts over 1200m, the trip today looks ideal, the barrier not so! Like what DEPTH OF CHARACTER did on debut, inside gate here suggests with a better start he’ll park a lot closer. The beautifully bred GOODLUCKTOME beaten on debut didn’t go straight, wiser this time around. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet: SWIFT FALCON EACH-WAY (small bet). RACE 2 Giving NAVY BLOOD another chance in this week’s Midway. Very impressive first up at Newcastle over this distance he then bombed out when up to 1400m & ridden closer at Randwick last start. GLENBOWER is lightly raced with good upside, no surprise to see him measure up to this. IRON MAN has run 2nd all three first up attempts to date with the latest being here at this level, trialled well, big watch. Numbers: 4 – 14 – 10 – 3 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 3 KNOW THYSELF will be all the rage in this week’s Highway & I’d suggest that’s fair enough too. He won his first two starts comfortably before coming to town last time out & missing out after being held up at a vital stage in the straight. BIG chance to make amends this afternoon. SILVER HALO also looks promising, only lightly raced will come in a fair way after scratchings. AGIRLSBESTFRIEND may need the run however she just had nothing go right multiple times last prep. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet: KNOW THYSELF TO WIN. RACE 4 KUREDER goes on top here however on an each-way basis. Placed at successive starts this grade he tackled a tougher race at Randwick last start when just an even looking effort. Like him back to something easier & he should be rock hard fit now. The import PERFECT PLAY appears the logical danger third-up from a break, gets to a suitable trip, may not want it too wet though? FOR VICTORY is flying, can’t be left out. Numbers: 5 – 7 – 3 – 10 Suggested Bet: KUREDER EACH-WAY. RACE 5 At this stage I’m not sure where CAPTAIN FURAI is going around (also engaged Race 9 as an emergency). Wherever it is I’m keen to be on as he’s a lightly raced very progressive type who looked like winning last start however peaked on his finish. Back to 1400m suits. LITTLE COINTREAU is very consistent & resumed with a solid midweek victory, can measure up to Saturday company. WILD GYPSY has upside, has handled both wet & dry ground in her short career to date. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 10 – 14 Suggested Bet: CAPTAIN FURAI TO WIN. RACE 6 Open race where I’ll lean to LEFT FIELD who’s been a model of consistency form the get-go & no reason as to why that can’t continue here. Placed at Listed level two back she was game enough without threatening last start on a very wet surface. HIDE YOUR HEART has a solid second up record & wasn’t far away first up. DEMIANA will find this harder than the last start victory however won’t be far away either. BIG watch on the import HA HA HA who has trialled well. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 7 Sticking with the speedy PASSEGGIATA who has beaten all bar the winner both runs back in ‘officially’ tougher grade. Courtesy of Bailey Wheeler’s claim she’ll carry only 1.5kg more however I’m not overly worried about weights in these short races & she’s just a speed runner who will be highballing from the outset. The consistent HANAU resumes, trialled well, may take the run? Market moves all important. HI DUBAI switches from Waterhouse/Bott to Maher, fresh record with the old stable was a good one. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 9 – 14 Suggested Bet: PASSEGGIATA TO WIN. RACE 8 Many of these can be hard to catch, SIR LUCAN a perfect example running 2nd one week & then beaten almost 14L the next! I don’t see why FUNAMBULIST can’t run a race, yes, he tackles open company from restricted grade however he’s consistent, will run the trip no problem & tumbles in the weights dropping 6kg off the latest. HOPEFUL was unlucky here last week, a repeat performance has him winning or going close to it. BONNY EZRA in the mix somewhere, very average race. Numbers: 11 – 2 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 9 Here’s CAPTAIN FURAI once again, it’s either here or race 5 & whichever race it turns out to be I’m with him for the reasons explained earlier. Should he not go around in this one FRANZ JOSEF has to be the top tip who of course beat him last start making it 3 wins from 4 starts with a 2nd thrown in as well. I’m sure BUILLT isn’t far away, no surprise to see improvement from him soon, he doesn’t need an overly damp surface though. Numbers: 16 – 6 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet: BACKING CAPTAIN FURAI if running, FRANZ JOSEF if not TO WIN. RACE 10 STEP ASIDE has been going around in the last race at least 3 times of late however scratched twice & a washout sees him still yet to resume. He’s a very good fresh horse who has been trialling well & if still fresh enough will go close. KING OF NAPLES has placed twice second up, he didn’t have much luck when resuming & draws a good alley here, drier track would help. Must include ELSON BOY who is going for his sixth straight win, yes this is harder, there’s nothing better than winning form though. Numbers: 14 – 5 – 10 – 2 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. Market Market
