Chris Nelson’s Saturday Randwick Preview Posted on October 26, 2023October 26, 2023 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 An 1100m Midway kicks off another big day of racing at Randwick. Settled on a couple of likely well fancied runners who will park handy in the run being CHIEF CONDUCTOR & EYE PEA OH who are both second up from spells. With the less weight I’ll lean to the latter who is already a winner here on the track. CHIEF CONDUCTOR gets 3kg off for Anna Roper & looked good with the same jockey aboard running 3rd at Warwick Farm first up. VINDICATION & LANCASTER BOMBER in the mix also. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet: Backing top two selections to win. RACE 2 Difficult race, ATMOSPHERE the big query in my opinion, didn’t fire first up which isn’t unusual, didn’t fire final run last prep, trialled quietly since the first up miss running second last in a small field. On his better form he’d thrash these however is he anywhere near reproducing it? I’ll lean to the consistent KIMBERLEY SECRETS who ran well this level before far from disgraced in the Kosciuszko clocking in 6th behind a very smart type who is a Group horse. PIONEER RIVER a place chance off the inside alley. Numbers: 10 – 1 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 3 Highway time! No doubt FLORINO will be well supported having won 3 of his 4 outings all at his initial prep. Interestingly he won a recent Scone trial narrowly, the 3rd placed horse in that heat THE DRAMATIST caught the eye running on under a hold, he’s engaged here & I’m going to have something small on him at the better odds. Stack of place chances. Numbers: 2 – 11 – 7 – 10 Suggested Bet: THE DRAMATIST EACH-WAY (small bet) RACE 4 Keen on the in-form SEQUESTERED, confident she can make it 3 from 3 this time in. Good first up winning at midweek level she was then super impressive stepping up to Saturday company weaving through the field before coming clear. The additional 200m won’t prove an issue, she tackles the same grade, suggest the only downside is the 3.5kg weight rise, happy to suggest she can handle that. CINQUE TORRI & SUPER CHILLED come out of the same race first up won by the former, both well in the mix here. Numbers: 8 – 9 – 10 – 7 Suggested Bet: SEQUESTERED TO WIN RACE 5 With BARBER a scratching I’ll lean to MUMBAI MUSE who is an interesting runner, freshened up off some solid efforts earlier in the spring she is still a maiden however has performed well in Group 2 company this time in. ARMED FORCES not the roughest should they be making ground, that’s where he’ll balance up from the wide draw. Numbers: 10 – 3 – 9 – 2 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 in exotics RACE 6 Tricky looking race, no doubting the class of HUETOR & NUMERIAN however both are second up & may need the run. Having said that it’s a step down in grade suggesting if anywhere near peak fitness they are more than capable of winning. I’m leaning to the race fit & ready to win NO COMPROMISE who caught the eye late running on in the Hill Stakes 3 weeks back. Has won here, 2000m a suitable distance & drawn to gain an economical run. RENAISSANCE WOMAN looked good winning last start, this is a tougher task though. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 10 – 2 Suggested Bet: NO COMPROMISE EACH-WAY RACE 7 I won’t hear of TOM KITTEN being beaten here. He’s just had nothing go his way his last couple getting home from back in the field looking a ‘good thing beaten’ on each occasion. Well, he gets to 2000m today which is ideal, he’s drawn the inside gate which I’m not sure is as ideal however the positive is he won’t get trapped wide! With a clear crack at them in the straight he can become a Group 1 winner. RAF ATTACK beat him home last start giving plenty from the front, that’s where he’ll be once again. The Waller pair MEDATSU & TUTTA LA VITA can be included. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 10 – 12 Suggested Bet: TOM KITTEN TO WIN RACE 8 Good competitive race which I found very tricky. Don’t like the gate on paper for MAGIC TIME however the map doesn’t look strong suggesting she can get across early & find a good spot. Thought her first up run was so-so however she improved plenty to win second up & will no doubt take further benefit from that performance. ESPIONA comes out of the Everest last start when far from disgraced, must be included as a major chance. OPAL RIDGE & ROOTS draw well, doubt they will be far away either. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 9 Keen on the likely favourite ARCTIC GLAMOUR who has come back in cracking form winning both starts this prep. Plenty to like about the first up win when she just cruised on by her opposition before stepping it up to Listed grade last start when coming clear late. 1600m suits, she draws well & can this time beat not only her own sex but the males as well. DUCASSE keeps on making ground, must be included stepping to a mile for the first time. Ditto HEMAN. Numbers: 11 – 6 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet: ARCTIC GLAMOUR TO WIN RACE 10 I’m with the well fancied pair GRINGOTTS & FALL FOR CINDY with little separating them in my opinion. The latter may well be the better odds & if that’s the case I’ll lean her way, she ran into the flying Sequestered first up (goes around earlier in the day) before a solid win the latest. Yes, this is harder however she has good improvement to come. GRINGOTTS draws the pole & is ready to win, all runs this time in have been solid & the 1400m is more suitable this time around than two back. Numbers: 10 – 4 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet: Backing top two selections to win Market Market
