Chris Nelson’s Saturday Eagle Farm Preview Posted on October 30, 2025October 30, 2025 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 Racing in Brisbane on Saturday comes from Eagle Farm. Not sure what to report on the weather front as storms are forecast every day in the lead-up with the most severe set to hit on race day (of course) however most likely in the afternoon/evening. The words ‘supercell’ & ‘tornado’ have been mentioned, nobody wants any of that! The youngsters kick things off, market leads all important. I’ll lean to (5) SCARTOON who sped away to win a short jump out before trailing well after a slightly slow getaway, she might be too speedy for these? (1) RARATONGA is the best of the experienced runners, hard to see him finishing out of the money. (6) VANZADEE showed good speed to win a recent trial, ridden back the other, betting stable, beware. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet: Monitor betting leads. RACE 2 With the scratching of Guac On, Express Code maps to lead comfortably, can he see it out though? (4) TEN GOOD REASONS will find the 1000m short of his best however he’s a progressive type who should be nice & sharp fresh, should the leader be sitting down late this one will come with a rush. (5) HEARTS ARE BETTER is yet to miss a placing fresh & that includes a win, good gate will see him parked on speed in the run. Include (3) THANKYOU HENRY who has a good second-up record & handles any type of ground, he can improve sharply off the first up run. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 3 – 9 Suggested Bet: TEN GOOD REASONS EACH-WAY (need 8 runners). RACE 3 The 2400m stayer’s affair is very much weather/track dependant. Keen on (6) KALUAKOI should we be racing on something dry or near to it, his wins have come on good ground & a soft (5), he was well beaten his only heavy track outing. Placed at Doomben last Saturday over 2000m he just looks like a horse who will keep going at the one speed, this trip should be ideal. (1) TAPILDOODLEDOO will run the trip right out, that’s a given so in he goes. Thought (7) SIR LAMORAK did a good job up on speed last start kicking on well late, he will park on the lead once again. (4) CONNECTICUT is in career best form, can’t see the additional 200m worrying him. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 7 – 4 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics as not sure of conditions. RACE 4 Keen on two runners in the race being (9) MARGO’S DEEL & (12) DUSHENKA who put the writing on the wall at their last starts. Can’t put them both on top unfortunately, I’ll lean to (9) MARGO’S DEEL who won at Doomben in good time two back running over the top of the leader late. Too far back same track last start she made good ground. (12) DUSHENKA had zero luck when wide at Eagle Farm however battled it out solidly right to the line just missing out on third. With a softer run here can go a few better. (3) MAZIS has come back in good form this prep, should I be wrong about the first two this one will be the runner to beat. Numbers: 9 – 12 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet: MARGO’S DEEL & DUSHENKA TO WIN. RACE 5 Going very rough here putting the maiden galloper (10) DIALIDAE on top. I liked what she showed at her 2yo prep & gave her a good chance to win first up in her right grade however completely different to her two initial runs they rode her forward which didn’t see her finish off. Look for a quieter ride this time around. (3) PROVOKER the best of the fancied runners, raced away to break the maiden status last start & only third-up today. (1) BRAVE MONARCH shows good promise, won well at start number two & the stable is firing. Numbers: 10 – 3 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet: DIALIDAE EACH-WAY (small bet). RACE 6 Should the track be rain affected I’m with the consistent (6) BILLIONAIR BABY to break through. He’s been quite sound his past couple having little luck at the Sunshine Coast before closing off nicely at Doomben. He’s clearly at his best when the going is damp & from the good gate gets the right run for leading jockey Angela Jones. (9) ZOU BIG BOY is a promising type who may need the run fresh, he’s the best wet track performer in the race though, keep that in mind. (11) IRAMA is well up in the weights however racing well. Numbers: 6 – 9 – 11 – 3 Suggested Bet: BILLIONAIR BABY EACH-WAY (wet track preferred). RACE 7 Newcomer to the Gollan stable (6) FORGOTTEN SPIRIT ran well first local outing albeit finishing out of the placings. She raced wide, wanted to lay out down the straight & pulled up with heat-stress, fair to say things didn’t exactly pan out! I liked what she showed in her 2yo season though & expect her to improve, she may have felt the firm ground at that latest run also. (1) TORQUE TO BE SURE tackled some hot races in the winter, he’s very well placed at this level & no surprise to see him in well up in the market. Although only a maiden winner on debut make no mistake (10) SPIRIT OF BARTY is well up to this, she really did find the line hard once clear & should have won by further. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 10 – 5 Suggested Bet: FORGOTTEN SPIRIT EACH-WAY. RACE 8 (6) HURTS SO GOOD looks close to win & he gets back to his pet track & distance here. The added bonus will be wet ground as he loves to get his toe in & we’ve seen him get to the outside here before & run home over the leaders. (9) HOLY RACKET did a good job here last start just being outgunned by the in-form Party For Two late, there was a good margin back to third on that occasion & he’ll once again give a good sight from the inside draw. Fitter for the first up run (2) MANHOOD must be included as should (1) CIFRADO who showed signs of improvement last start, he loves the wet & on his day is clearly the best horse in the race. Numbers: 6 – 9 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 9 Keen on the chances of (9) EXCEED SPEED who is racing in peak form & looks like controlling the speed with his stablemate Blazen Boots. Just had to work a little too much first up to settle on pace at Toowoomba when outgunned late. Down in weight on a track he’s won on any rain won’t be of concern. (7) NAVAL SEAL draws a gate to settle closer than usual; he’s also racing in peak form. He & (5) CUNNAMULLA FELLA handle all types of going. Numbers: 9 – 7 – 5 – 8 Suggested Bet: EXCEED SPEED TO WIN. RACE 10 Trainer Rob Heathcote has always had a big opinion of (10) COSMO CENTAURUS. Right from his winning debut he’s wrapped the horse & that faith looks like being rewarded this prep based on the first up win when once out of a pocket he quickly picked up & dashed clear of his rivals. (3) BEWS has been kept very fresh since running on well first-up, he won’t want it too wet though. (5) SER JOH found the 1000m too short fresh, he certainly found the line late though picking up many lengths, this trip is far more appealing to him. Numbers: 10 – 3 – 5 – 12 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. Market Market
