Chris Nelson’s Saturday Eagle Farm Preview Posted on October 10, 2024October 10, 2024 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 Racing at Eagle Farm on rain affected ground. Confident we can get the day off on a winning note with the Sunshine Coast trained filly MISTING looking very well placed to make it consecutive wins. She caught the eye late over 1200m on her home track two back before rising to 1600m at Doomben proving far too strong for her rivals. 1820m today looks very suitable & the opposition are far from strong. Her stablemate REMLAP KAVA may prove to be her main opposition. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet: MISTING TO WIN. RACE 2 Difficult looking staying affair as they generally are. I’ll lean to FLEUR DU MONDE who was a Doomben winner two back before having nothing pan out at the Gold Coast a fortnight back. She has a lot less convictions than most going around here, in fact she’s 5 from 17 so she really has none & can return to the winners list. AWASH & WAIRERE FALLS continue to race consistently, both in the mix once again. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 3 Keen on the chances of the lightly raced STREET CHASE who in all fairness should have won on debut when running on well to beat all bar the winner after a slow start. Sent for an immediate spell he resumed with a strong midweek Doomben win charging clear of a subsequent winner (Andersen). If there’s a danger, I’d suggest it’s SHAMARDAN who bolted in on debut before placing in Saturday grade at Randwick, both runs were on heavy ground, has trialled well. No knock on HELLA FAST’s debut win storming home from off pace. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet: STREET CHASE TO WIN. RACE 4 Winning form is the best form & the resuming METALART certainly has plenty of that. 4 starts at his initial prep for as many wins either leading or coming from just off the speed. In a race where the pace looks solid jockey Jimmy Orman will have options from the good gate to lead or trail, he’ll give this one every chance to remain unbeaten. I’ve included GIVE GIGGLES who strips fitter, may be looking for further however the plus is the wet ground. HELLUVA BARTY in the mix on a drying track, doesn’t want it too wet. Numbers: 5 – 9 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet: METALART TO WIN (small bet). RACE 5 Keen on the chances of TECTONIC PLATE who was the best of good things beaten at Doomben last start when missing the kick before charging home into the placings. She’s a mare who generally maps near the lead, unfortunately that was never going to be the case however it did show her versatility. A winner at her three prior starts she can bounce back sharply here. TIGER SHARK is more than capable fresh & has won a lead up trial on his home circuit, market? GOLDSBOROUGH never far away, WANDA ROX can improve if the track isn’t too wet. Numbers: 4 – 5 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet: TECTONIC PLATE TO WIN. RACE 6 Thought VOLCANIC LOVE looked well placed providing we don’t race on a very wet track. He put a space in his rivals at Grafton last start & both prior runs this prep were sound, not far away in a couple of stronger races up this way last prep as well. I’d expect good improvement out of ADELAD second up, he was a winner at the same stage of his last prep before winning again at his next outing. CASTILLION a chance however I’m of the opinion he may be a little winning post shy… seems to peak on his run when in range. Numbers: 10 – 1 – 9 – 14 Suggested Bet: VOLCANIC LOVE EACH-WAY. RACE 7 Going with MIDORI BEAUTY who returned to Australia from Hong Kong with a fast-finishing Doomben win first up. Off to the Gold Coast he went for his next start where if not for being held up arguably would have won again. He was scratched last week when stepping up to 1350m, here he is now staying at 1200m, were there any issues? Just keep an eye on the betting moves close to race time. JOHN RAMBO can improve; he finds himself in what should be a more solidly run race which he needs. HELL will be the one running along out front, can’t knock. Numbers: 9 – 8 – 3 – 12 Suggested Bet: MIDORI BEAUTY TO WIN (if not a late drifter). RACE 8 The Listed 2400m Queensland Cup should prove to be an interesting affair with a competitive looking bunch to lock horns. The Chris Waller trained KIRKEBY comes to hand quite quickly which is a plus as he’s only having his third run back this afternoon. He gets back so the barrier makes little difference & 2400m is his pet range, suspect Andrew Mallyon will give him a very quiet ride. NIKAU SPUR looks close, ran well in the Toowoomba Cup beating home KIRKEBY, he’s a definite threat. CHAYSE ‘N’ ARTIE was another to hit the line well at Toowoomba. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 6 – 9 Suggested Bet: KIRKEBY EACH-WAY. RACE 9 CLOUDLAND appeals here off a very good effort at Toowoomba when having absolutely no luck in the run. Stuck out wide without cover he went for home at the top of the straight & held his rivals at bay until right on the line when nailed by the winner. His prior run was very good also, he gets out over further again & the ground will not be a problem. BLAKMAX is flying, won’t want it too wet though. Thought BELVEDERE BOYS had his chance at Ipswich however he’s promising & fitter for the hit out. Include BEEBEE DAZZLER who was most unlucky last start when held up. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 11 – 17 Suggested Bet: CLOUDLAND TO WIN. RACE 10 We’ve got a Listed race to close out the day & plenty will be in the corner of the quality sprinter YELLOW BRICK who went down narrowly at his return run in the Weetwood at Toowoomba. He’s drawn out & has plenty of weight to carry here, 7.5kg more than BATTLIEFIELD who providing the inside section of the track is ok looks very hard to beat. Back in from his latest making it 4 wins from his past 5 starts he’ll handle any ground as will YELLOW BRICK. UCALLEDIT next best. Numbers: 13 – 1 – 3 – 9 Suggested Bet: BATTLETON TO WIN.
