Chris Nelson’s Saturday Eagle Farm Preview Posted on December 14, 2023December 14, 2023 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 Not sure I’d be launching into a short price about LIQUOR however she gets the nod here due to her good draw & record here at Eagle Farm over the short 1000m trip which reads very well. There is good speed in the race however she can find the fence & take a trail if her rivals go on the attack. KAT CHINNA draws right next to the fence with an enviable first up record. AMITY GAL in the mix. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 in exotics. RACE 2 Thought the early quote about ANEMACORE was fair, the hype around his wins at the Sunshine Coast could have had him short in the market however at around $4 or better I can side with him in a small way. Gut feel is he’s now looking for further than 1810m however he’s been impressive & has plenty of upside. The Gollan pair PRINCESS RHAENYS & MADAME ODETTE are both second up, both rising in distance & yes both ready to win! Numbers: 3 – 10 – 12 – 1 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 3 Don’t see much speed likely here which should see DRIVE A DEEL roll forward & should she get away with a few cheap sectionals she’s going to prove very hard to beat. Right at peak fitness having run number four this time in she’s a winner here on her home track however it’s her record at this distance range which is impressive, she’s won 5 of 7! STARZAM is getting close & gets in nice & light with Cejay Graham’s claim. CHASING JACKLEY is the other leader in the race & far from hopeless at likely big odds. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 10 – 6 Suggested Bet: DRIVE A DEEL EACH-WAY RACE 4 Hoping the leaders go extremely hard in front as my top tip FUMIKO will likely get back, that’s been her racing pattern to date & although now without the leading stable that’s likely the scenario again here however she has drawn well. Very good first up at the Sunshine Coast from last she’ll lap up 1200m on this track. Sorting out the placegetters is no easy task, suggest BURNISH GOLD, MAID TO FIT, EN POINTE & CENTRESTONE are all in the mix. Numbers: 9 – 8 – 5 – 13 Suggested Bet: FUMIKO EACH-WAY RACE 5 PERFECT MISSION comes out of the previous race to go around in this one & she does appear very well placed. Off the scene for over 650 days she resumed with an encouraging placing before too solid in a very competitive race at Doomben. Can only suggest she’s got plenty of improvement to come & from a good gate today with Bailey Wheeler’s claim she’s going to take plenty of beating. SUNFALL fresh is a big watch, did win first up last prep, monitor betting moves very closely. SEA RAIDER made good ground first up, needs tempo. Numbers: 8 – 7 – 1 – 12 Suggested Bet: PERFECT MISSION TO WIN RACE 6 Keen on the very consistent SHA OF GOMER who so often draws wide gates yet he never really runs a bad race. Drawn ideally this afternoon in a race with little speed on paper he should park behind Hamlet Von Snitzel & prove too strong in what could well be a dash down the straight. THE DROVER just never travelled at all last start; he can improve plenty. MOB BUSTER isn’t the roughest. Numbers: 7 – 4 – 3 – 12 Suggested Bet: SHA OF GOMER TO WIN RACE 7 The Group 3 Grand Prix is a very tricky race, I couldn’t take a short price about any runner. Leaning to FELIX THE SCAT who stayed on well enough last start after working early on, from the inside gate he should get a peach of a run for top jockey Ryan Maloney. SHY GUY will race up on speed once again, there mightn’t be a lot of it so in he goes. IMEZAAKI an interesting runner, dominant at Hawkesbury however have to query what he beat. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 8 Happy to be with the promising filly ABOUNDING in the Gold Edition. She looked very impressive first up then had 6 weeks off before beating all bar the winner at Doomben a fortnight back in the Mode. She came wide whilst that winner West Of Dalby saved all the ground, in the end that was the difference between the two. Like the way SPIRIT OF MAC is going, he should get a good run from the draw & might be a little underrated. Not sacking DEFIANT SPIRIT or DEEP RESPECT who should appreciate the drier surface. Numbers: 9 – 7 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet: ABOUNDING TO WIN RACE 9 IRISH SONGS may not be the best horse going around in this race however he might just be the best placed? Solid two back off a freshen up he then had no chance in the Recognition where Zarastro was dominant from the front, good gate, closer in the run he can run well at odds. FAR TOO EASY & SCALLOPINI are the two best horses in the race, the former goes 1400m first up whilst the latter needs to improve off the fresh run & has the big weight once again. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet: IRISH SONGS EACH-WAY RACE 10 Going to stick with KNIGHT’S CHOICE who was strong at the end of 2000m last start. I’d be lying if I said the drop back to 1810m wasn’t a concern however I just liked the way he picked up & dashed when asked to in the straight. His task isn’t made any easier by the wide draw however that should see us get a better price… hopefully! QUALITY TIME was the horse he beat last start, figures to get all the favours & is the main danger once again. DUNE FORTY FIVE trapped wide the latest can improve. Numbers: 3 – 7 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet: KNIGHT’S CHOICE TO WIN (over $3.20). Market Market
