Chris Nelson’s Saturday Eagle Farm Preview Posted on August 31, 2023August 31, 2023 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 Just an average 3yo race to kick off the day however there just might be a good bet in amongst them. PLANNED ENCOUNTER is the one & in a field of rivals who look suspect at running a strong 1500m she certainly doesn’t. Strong to the line winning on debut at Doomben she tackled the same track & trip (1350m) in Saturday company last start when running on late. Clearly she’s now chasing further & gets that this afternoon. CAPITAL CEE & TOTSPUR look the most likely to be chasing her home. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet: PLANNED ENCOUNTER TO WIN RACE 2 Tough to tip against KIR ROYALE here, she’s very well placed at the weights, draws an inside gate where she’ll likely box seat from, gets our leading jock to steer & brings the strongest form lines up from Sydney! One danger only in my opinion & that’s JAYANTHI who is absolutely flying, last two wins have been very strong ones, had KIR ROYALE not been in this race I’d be declaring her a ‘good thing’. CRAZY TRAIN was more of a ‘train wreck’ last start, freshened up can improve. Numbers: 8 – 7 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet: KIR ROYALE TO WIN/SAVER JAYANTHI RACE 3 Not keen here with a mix of many different form lines engaged & no obvious leader. Settled on LUCKY EXHANGE who did hit the line well fresh, bit flatter second up, has won up to 1900m. At odds WHODAT isn’t without a chance, only problem is he will get back & give a start. No idea what to expect from HELEVA DEEL, scratched the past two Saturdays now rises 400m off a 4-week break! Numbers: 4 – 8 – 7 – 12 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics RACE 4 As with the previous race there’s no clear leader in this, not sure what to expect early. ROLLER COASTER & CHERNAK come out of the same last start race where the latter was the winner & the former finished out of the placings. I’m going to reverse them here as I though ROLLER COASTER was coming into the race nicely when hitting a traffic jam at a crucial stage in the straight. CHERNAK is far worse off at the weights this time around however still a chance. CASH ME continues to race consistently & is in the mix once again. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics RACE 5 MISS COOTA is the class act in this race & I’m happy to stick with her. There looks to be plenty of early speed which she’ll be a part of however from the inside gate Bailey Wheeler will have options to ease should they be going too fast in front. She strips fitter for the first up win & loves these short trips. MINTO’S D’ORO comes out of the same last start race when sticking on well, just needs a little luck from the awkward alley. OCEANS OF ENERGY is the one who will appreciate the solid tempo up front, he’ll be motoring at the business end. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 2 – 9 Suggested Bet: MISS COOTA TO WIN RACE 6 No shortage of speed in the race! We now know LE MELODY is versatile, she was an on pacer with a good record before missing the start her latest outing & running home hard. Scratchings will likely bring her in a few gates here however as long as she’s got some cover in running she’s capable of winning. NASHIRA the other main chance, closed off very well first up after sitting deep throughout. Freshened up HOLD ON HONEY can run well, another who will be helped by scratchings. Numbers: 5 – 11 – 4 – 17 Suggested Bet: LE MELODY/NASHIRA TO WIN RACE 7 Good race this one, our leading trainer Tony Gollan has a very strong hand with ZARASTRO & ALL THAT PIZZAZZ. Impossible to knock either, however ALL THAT PIZZAZZ really impressed me with his finishing burst first up, he strips fitter & gets an additional 100m which will be ideal. Can see him charging after ZARASTRO down the straight in what should make for an exciting finish. If there’s a knockout, I’m expecting it to be the Sydney visitor HELL I AM who has trialled nicely back home. Numbers: 2 – 10 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet: ALL THAT PIZZAZZ EACH-WAY RACE 8 Happy to back IRISH SONGS each-way here. He was always going to need the run first up off a 7-week break yet he ran very well being sent wide from the 800m coming about 6 deep around the home turn peaking on his finish around 200m from home. Cosy gate this time, a soft run & he’s obviously fitter. CEPHEUS the logical danger, freshened up since winning at Grafton during the carnival down there he beat IRISH SONGS home in the Eye Liner before IRISH SONGS reversed that result in the Glasshouse. WILLIAMSBURG, has clearly the best form, will he need the run? Is he a wet tracker? Numbers: 2 – 1 – 7 – 10 Suggested Bet: IRISH SONGS EACH-WAY RACE 9 OUR MAGNUS & SHA OF GOMER come out of the same race run at Doomben a fortnight back. They finished second & third respectively both putting in good runs. Confident they are the two to fight this out & am happy to back both. WINSTON SMURFHILL continues to race well having brought up the hat trick last start, the races aren’t getting any easier however he just keeps raising the bar. BEDFORD SQUARE isn’t hopeless, could easily lob into a top 4 position. Numbers: 5 – 13 – 8 – 14 Suggested Bet: OUR MAGNUS/SHA OF GOMER TO WIN Market Market
