Chris Nelson’s Rosehill Best Bets

RACE 3 No.4 Waterford

Drew wide and as a result gave away a big start in the Silver Eagle a fortnight back before making up plenty of ground in the run to the line clocking the quickest final 200m. The race just wasn’t run to suit at all with the backmarkers facing a task, to get as close as he did was a very good effort. Back to a Benchmark 78 on Saturday even with the 60kg he still looks the one to beat.

RACE 7 No.8 Lost And Running

Unfortunately a race morning scratching on Everest Day where he was considered a big chance to win the race. Fully recovered and with the benefit of a recent trial I’d suggest trainer John O’Shea will have him right on track to make amends tomorrow. He just looks the best placed of the main chances out to the longer 1300m trip.

RACE 8 No.12 Light Infantry

Arguably the most interesting runner of the day is this import whose last couple of runs have been close second placed finishes at Group 1 level in France. The form around him in those races is first class, clearly better than anything he meets in this 10-million-dollar feature. The query is how has he settled in which is something we don’t know; I’ll take the punt he’s done well and if anywhere near right he should be taking home the fat cheque!
