Chris Nelson’s Gold Coast Best Bets Posted on January 6, 2023January 6, 2023 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 2 No.7 Quasimoto Has the right form line through Sovereign Fund clocking in second behind that well fancied Magic Millions candidate at Wyong last start. Love the way he got to the line there and the wide barrier on Saturday may not be all that much of a hindrance the way the track will likely play. He’ll get to the outside in the straight and run home hard. RACE 5 No.9 Junqueira John O’Shea & James McDonald combine with this lightly raced filly who won on debut at Hawkesbury before returning a fast finishing third at Warwick Farm just prior to Christmas. On paper the gate looks great however if not I’m sure J Mac will get her into a winnable spot. She’s very promising and should be winning this all things being equal. RACE 8 No.15 Thalassophile Really hoping this mare from the Chris Waller yard gets a start in ‘The Wave’ on Saturday. As second emergency it’s not highly likely however her form is superior and if not well then in my opinion the race becomes very open. Placed 2 of 4 this prep she’s been terribly unlucky more than once and judging on her closing effort at the end of a mile last start the 1800m is ideal, as is the soft ground.
