Chris Nelson’s Friday Sunshine Coast Preview Posted on September 27, 2024September 27, 2024 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 Night racing on the Sunshine Coast which will be rain affected to some degree. Going with DAZZLING DIAMOND in the opener who will be lining up for her second start having beaten all bar the winner here on debut when parked second throughout. She rises nothing in trip, only 0.5kg at the weights & surely will be benefitted by the race experience. CANTANKEROUS trialled nicely in recent Deagon heat looking to have gas in the tank on the line, likely danger. KENDYACATCHME showed glimpses last prep, in the top local yard & can run a race fresh. Numbers: 11 – 5 – 13 – 3 Suggested Bet: Box up top 2 selections in exotics. RACE 2 Eagle Farm trainer Matt Hoysted had 3 acceptors in this race, one is going around in the first, another scratched likely due to a wide gate which leaves only OF COURSE who won a Deagon trial before sitting a little wide in his latest at Doomben. He’s also drawn poorly however should there be market I’d expect to run well. STARWARD next best whilst BETTA BEING SINGLE is ex Waterhouse/Bott, now with the Munce yard no official trials since August, BIG market watch! Numbers: 5 – 6 – 8 – 14 Suggested Bet: Market all important. Follow any support for the top 4 selections. RACE 3 PORT ERIN has returned a much-improved horse this prep. Dominant here first up he then went to the Gold Coast sitting deep yet cruising to the front in the straight for an effortless victory albeit in a slow last 600 race sectional. Happy to be with him here however I’d be wanting no worse than just under $3.00. ACRES AWAY interests me, didn’t fire last prep joins a new yard & his trials have been good, he went to the line under no pressure in a recent Gatton heat narrowly beaten only by Yellow Brick! DEFERENTIAL resumes with a tidy fresh record. Numbers: 7 – 6 – 9 – 5 Suggested Bet: PORT ERIN TO WIN ($2.75 or better), saver ACRES AWAY if not a big market drifter. RACE 4 I’m tipping LOKEN here in what looks a very average looking race simply by process of elimination as I don’t think her rivals are up to much. She’s only had the one start & yes it was in a Kilcoy maiden over 800m which isn’t a lot to get excited about however she was confidently backed, strong to the line & has trialled since, she wouldn’t have to be any star to get away with this. GALLERY MASTER although only having won 1 of 27 has placed on 6 further occasions, last couple sound here on the poly & the grass, can figure. VIKING VALOUR some hope, gate & claim should be positives. Numbers: 7 – 12 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet: LOKEN TO WIN (small bet). RACE 5 GREY ICE is a big market watch, out of a betting stable she was a dominant heavy track winner here back in May, she then tackled stronger company before heading for a break, lightly raced however yet to win fresh. KEEPMEINTHELOPE had trialled well before solid first up for Stuart Kendrick, keeping safe. MAMBO DANCER is a soft track winner who has had one start up this way (ex-Moody/Coleman) finishing close up, wouldn’t be overlooking whilst CHARLIE’S CASE was a better effort last start. Numbers: 3 – 17 – 14 – 8 Suggested Bet: GREY ICE TO WIN (if not a noted market drifter). RACE 6 I’ve landed on DECEMBER DIAMOND who is generally a fairly consistent mare & she hasn’t been over raced lining up for only her 31st start as a 7yo. Placed her past couple here & Ipswich this race looks a little easier than the latest & she handles wet & dry ground. HAYAKU didn’t get much of a crack at them when needing to last start, should have finished closer & can do so here particularly should they be running on from the back. PENDING has a liking for his home track, little disappointing of late however can improve. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 2 – 9 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 7 Last start winner RING BEARER accounted for ARTZINO here over this trip with the latter running home nicely into 3rd spot from well back in the field. Suggest if he can park himself a little closer this time around within striking distance he’s a chance to turn the tables aided by a 3kg turnaround in the weights & a slightly better soft track record which could be all important by the time we hit this race. FREEMAN’s efforts this time in have been sound, get the feeling she’ll appreciate stepping out over further tonight. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 14 – 8 Suggested Bet: ARTZINO TO WIN (box exacta/quinella with RING BEARER). Market Market
