Chris Nelson’s Eagle Farm Best Bets

RACE 1 No.5 Champagne Aunty

Yes, fairly obvious however she looks the ‘good thing’ on what could be a tough day at The Farm. Racing in super form running quick times winning her past couple which followed a narrow first up defeat she won’t have any trouble with the step up in trip as she is certainly bred to handle it. Getting a decent price will be the toughest task however we’ll live in hope!

RACE 5 No.3 McCovey Cove

Consistent galloper from the Vandyke yard who although beaten into third spot ran a terrific race here last start. Ridden back (last) in what turned out to be a trot and canter he needed to be Bernborough to make up the ground in a very sharp sprint up the straight suiting the leader who duly scored. From gate one should get the right run for premier jock Ryan Maloney.

RACE 8 No.5 Je Suis Belle

Toowoomba trained mare who looks very close to a win. Most (including myself) had her pegged as a 1000m type however last start stepped up to 1200m & ridden a quieter race she closed off solidly. She’s back to the shorter trip tomorrow off a freshen up which sets up very well, with a touch of luck early from an awkward gate she’ll get her chance.
