Chris Nelson’s Eagle Farm Best Bets Posted on June 6, 2019June 6, 2019 | Posted by Chris Nelson Chris Nelson’s Best Bets RACE 2 No.8 Outback Barbie Appears nicely placed dropping back in grade on Saturday after going around in two Group 1’s this preparation being beaten only smallish margins on each occasion. She ran out of room late first up in the 10,000 at Doomben before drawing wide settling too far back in the Kingsford-Smith running home nicely between rivals late. I’d like to see her around the each-way quote where she would be very good value. RACE 3 No.6 Niccanova Backing up from last week where things just didn’t pan out. Connections signaled their intent to push on from a wide gate however it was obvious he wasn’t going to get across resulting in jockey Jimmy Orman drifting back nearer settling down nearer last than first. From a hopeless position on the turn he finished off strongly late and will lap up the additional 250m on Saturday. RACE 5 No.14 Pohutekawa Godolphin trained filly who had zero luck in the Fred Best after giving away a big start early on. She saved ground to the turn and looked like figuring in the finish however unable to gain a clear path over the final 200m of the race she was never able to launch a serious effort. Amazingly though she still did manage to clock the fastest closing sectional split in the race. Terrific each-way chance to make amends here.
