Deane’s Saturday Caulfield Best Bets Posted on October 20, 2017 | Posted by Deane Lester Extra SuperPicks for Caulfield – Races 1 & 2 Race 1 Looks a competitive race but SWORN EVIDENCE (no.10) appeals as a value runner. SuperPick - Race 1 No. 10 SWORN EVIDENCE - Place Boost Race 2 One of the really tough races with a variety of formlines, OCTABELLO (no.5) was impressive winning first-up at Flemington and looks a progressive horse. SuperPick - Race 2 No. 5 OCTABELLO - Place Boost Deane Lester’s Best Bets RACE 1 NO. 10 SWORN EVIDENCE Lightly raced filly SWORN EVIDENCE is showing good talent and looks a solid winning chance at nice each way odds when she contests the 3YO Fillies Plate (1400m). The Darren Weir trained filly scored a good win at Geelong two starts back before a luckless 4th over 1200 metres at Ararat on September 26. She will appreciate stepping up in distance and the Weir stable has a fine record in this race; sure to run well at good value. RACE 4 NO. 7 TAVISTOCK ABBEY TAVISTOCK ABBEY has been trending well towards next month’s VRC Derby (2500m) and looks a strong winning chance when he runs in the Caulfield Classic (2000m). The Anthony Freedman trained gelding scored an emphatic win over 1600 metres at Bendigo two starts back before a brave win in the Derby Trial (1800m) at Flemington on September 27. He has trialled well since that last win and looks a genuine stayer in the making. This is a lovely progression for him and he looks a huge chance of making it three wins on end. RACE 10 NO. 3 NIETA NIETA will start one of the shortest priced favourites of the day when she contests the Alinghi Stakes (1100m) and should send Caulfield punters home on a winning note. The John Thompson trained mare has been running against the elite sprinters in recent weeks including finishing 3rd behind subsequent Everest winner REDZEL over 1100 metres at Randwick on September 16. That’s an irresistible formline for this class of race and she appeals as the best bet of the day. Bet Now
