Deane Lester’s Caulfield Preview Posted on April 15, 2016 | Posted by Deane Lester Deane Lester’s Preview RACE 3 NO.2 SCARLET BILLOWS SCARLET BILLOWS should be fitter for two runs this campaign and appears very well graded when she contests the VOBIS Gold Distaff (1400m). The Darren Weir trained mare was a stakes winner over this distance last spring and, at her last run, finished a solid 7th behind FLAMBERGE in the Group1 William Reid Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on March 24. She was only three lengths from the winner so with added fitness and a sharp drop in class, SCARLET BILLOWS is ready to return to the winners list. RACE 4 NO.2 ZEBRINZ ZEBRINZ is trying to win the VOBIS Gold Mile (1600m) for the second consecutive year and looks a terrific each way chance. The five year old has made improvement at all three runs this campaign and will appreciate stepping up in distance here. At his last start, ZEBRINZ battled on well when finishing 7th behind BLACKHEART BART in very fast time in the Victoria Handicap (1400m) at Caulfield on March 26. This looks his target race for the campaign and ZEBRINZ is ready to peak on the right day. RACE 5 NO.10 BENGAL CAT BENGAL CAT returned to her best with a dominant win over 1600 metres at Sandown Hillside last Saturday and looks a great winning chance again when she contests the VOBIS Gold Reef (1600m). The John Sadler trained filly had been racing without luck in previous runs so it was no surprise that she turned her form around quickly. This race sets up well with only an even speed that should allow BENGAL CAT to ride the speed and prove hard to beat. Bet Now
