Greg Hooper’s Belmont Preview Posted on May 6, 2016May 9, 2016 | Posted by Greg Hooper Greg Hooper’s Preview RACE 1 – TABTOUCH PLATE 1000m No. 10 PRECIOUS MEMORIES – Terrific race to kick off a terrific card of racing. PRECIOUS MEMORIES was just edged out by the smart Sauls Special on debut. That form reads very well for this and if she gets any luck from her wide draw she goes very close. (1) HIT TUNE was very good on debut beating all bar the smart Dainty Tess. She improves off that and the drop back to 1000m will suit. (6) ON THE TURPS led and smashed in a recent trial. (4) MALILANGWE is another David Harrison horse who has trialled well. Suggested Bet – Precious Memories and Hit Tune RACE 2 – BELMONT BONANZA HANDICAP 2100m No. 1 CARALABEK – There is plenty of depth in this staying race. CARALABEK will improve with the rise to 2100m and gets a 3.5kg on his last start conqueror RIPPER RIO. That might just give him the edge. (4) SHINTA MANI is a smart mare. She was a big winner fresh over a mile and the rise in trip should also suit. (5) RIPPER RIO was a strong on speed winner at his most recent start. He’s untried at the trip but will run well. (11) SAXON SAXOFF will give a good sight in front with his lightweight. Suggested Bet – Caralabek win RACE 3 – SUBSCRIBE TO PERTH RACING NEWSLETTER HANDICAP 2000m No. 3 DARK MUSKET – I’m looking for some sharp improvement from DARK MUSKET in this handicap. He hasn’t fired in either run this campaign but should improve with the rise in trip. His summer form included a placing in the Kingston Town and a fourth in the Perth Cup. If he gets anywhere near that form he wins. (9) STAR EXHIBIT is the weighted horse after the claim for Randy Tan. (1) OUTLAW PETE is racing well and should get a nice run from a good draw. (8) PRESELECTION is flying and can win again. Suggested Bet – Dark Musket win RACE 4 – MULTICULTURAL RACEDAY NEXT SATURDAY HANDICAP 1600m No. 10 SOURCE OF SURVIVAL – This looks one of the weaker races of the day. Going for some value and selecting SOURCE OF SURVIVAL. Two starts back she was able to shake his maiden tag after getting a charmed run behind the speed. From gate 1 he should get a similar trail and play a part. (1) SENSO is the class runner. He’s untried at the mile but will get a soft run on the speed and get every chance. (2) HEDLANDER BOY will likely lead and goes close. (9) ROTH DA TOFF is looking for the mile. Suggested Bet – Source Of Survival each-way RACE 5 – AMELIA PARK LAMB HANDICAP 1000m No. 1 DEZZIES DREAM – This is a very good sprint. Almost a bracket selection between the former kiwi filly DEZZIES DREAM and ROYALIC. For the sake of a selection I’ll put Dezzies Dream on top. She has raced in high-class events including a second at Group 1 level. She was asked for nothing in a trial and if she brings her best form she takes a stack of beating. (4) ROYALIC has smoked his rivals in three local runs. They were all up the straight at Pinjarra which is the only query. (2) DELICATE MISS is talented and should run well fresh. (5) JUENDIS is up in class but has place claims. Suggested Bet – Dezzies Dream and Royalic RACE 6 – RACEDAY HOSPITALITY – BOOK NOW HANDICAP No. 5 SASSO’S CIRCUS – Another very competitive race. SASSO’S CIRCUS has been flying all campaign and he looks very well placed to post his first Saturday win. He should get a lovely run from a good draw and attack the line. (1) ILLUMINATED missed the kick in the Narrogin ruining any chance of victory. His prior effort behind Outlaw Peter reads well for this. (2) TRADESMAN should be peaking at his third run and he does race well at this circuit. (6) SLICK TALKER is back in class but can win. Suggested Bet – Sasso’s Circus each-way RACE 7 – BELMONT PARK – TICKETS FROM $5 HANDICAP 1400m No. 4 THE FORGOTTEN ONE – If they can make ground then I’m fairly keen on the chances of THE FORGOTTEN ONE. He showed plenty of ability last campaign posting a couple of wins and also some eye catching runs in defeat. He looks to have really come on strongly in his break away from the track going by his recent trial win. If he settles within striking distance he takes a stack of holding out. (6) THE DIRECTOR looks just about ready. He was doing his best work late at his most recent start. (12) PARIS DREAM is the weight horse. (3) LIBERTY RISE always races well early in her preparations. Suggested Bet – The Forgotten One and The Director RACE 8 – PETH RACING INSTAGRAM HANDICAP 1200m No. 3 TEMPORISE – Very good finish to the day. TEMPORISE has had 12 months away from the track and resumes for a new stable. His recent trial looked strong and if he brings his best form he can find the front and be very hard to run down. (6) REFLECTANCE turned the corner last campaign when being transferred to Lindsay Smith. He has been tuned up with two very soft trials. (7) PROFIT STREET was a big winner last start and is unbeaten at this track. (5) STOCKS can run a race fresh. Suggested Bet – Temporise and Reflectance QUADDIE RACE 5 – 1, 4 RACE 6 – 1, 2, 5, 6 RACE 7 – 4, 6, 8, 12 RACE 8 – 3, 5, 6, 7 Bet Now
