Greg’s Saturday Belmont Best Bets Posted on September 2, 2016September 5, 2016 | Posted by Greg Hooper Greg Hooper’s Preview RACE 1 KEEP THE FLAME was heavily supported in betting at Pinjarra and she ran a terrific race after having to settle back and wide from her wide gate and circle the field. She’s drawn wide again however so have plenty of her main dangers. LONE SAILOR just missed on debut. Harvey retains the mount and he appears the main danger. VANDALAGO drops sharply in distance. He has run some very encouraging races in his career. ARGYLE EXPRESS can lead and give some cheek. Numbers – 14 – 7 – 2 – 13 Suggested Bet – Keep The Flame Alive save Lone Sailor RACE 2 WHERE’S WALLY was well supported on debut and he was able to dig deep and get the money. The rise to 1400m should suit and he has drawn to get a very soft run behind the speed. KIMBO’S GIRL ran well first-up. She’ll tuck in behind the speed and get every chance for her maiden victory. RICH RED can lead. A PLUS makes his debut on the back of some impressive trial efforts. Numbers – 5 – 9 – 2- 7 Suggested Bet – Where’s Wally win RACE 3 The debutante SNOW LORD brings plenty of intrigue into this 1000m sprint. He’s shown explosive speed in his trial wins and he can find the front his good draw. He’ll give this a big shake. SWEET ORA and DAINTY TESS continue to front up and produce. Both have strong winning claims. NEXT GENERATION has place claims. Numbers – 7 – 4 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – Snow Lord win RACE 4 COOL PASSION is a very smart sprinter. She showed last preparation the ability to tuck in off the speed and finish powerfully which she’ll likely attempt in this race as she has drawn the outside. Provided she doesn’t get caught wide without cover she goes very close. BLACK DYNAMITE returned lame at his most recent outing. He’s undefeated at this trip and should be powering late. KING OF THE PALACE will get a soft run and if the gaps appear he’ll finish strongly. VOLKOFF has a poor record at this track but she’s too good to discount. Numbers – 6 – 7 – 3 – 10 Suggested Bet – Cool Passion win RACE 5 The main chances were down to race each other last week before the cancellation of the meeting. THE FORGOTTEN ONE has drawn much more poorly on this occasion however will still give him the nod based on a luckless last start effort in similar grade. If he gets some cover from his outside gate he goes close. The stable mate BERGIO has good claim if they are making ground. FALCON CREST has been advantaged by the better draw this week. BARAKI BEATS can lead and is close to a win. Numbers – 6 – 8 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – The Forgotten One and Bergio RACE 6 Justin Warwick brings in a dual pronged attack for this season’s Apprentices Cup with READY TO FIRE and CHARLESTOWN. Like CHARLESTOWN who ran well at his first run over a trip. Sarah Bonner is probably the most credentialed 3kg claiming apprentice at present and if she can get him one off the fence from his wide gate he goes very close. READY TO FIRE is a model of consistency. MIDNIGHT BANQUET will settle right on the speed and should be able to out tough most of his rivals. PRESENT ARMS can settle closer from a good draw. Numbers – 8 – 4 – 10 – 9 Suggested Bet – Charlestown win RACE 7 JUENDIS drifted significantly in betting first-up suggesting he would off that run. This looks a lovely race for him and he has drawn to get a lovely trip. COLETA has returned to racing in career best form. She’ll look to find some cover and finish powerfully. PRETENTIOUS CHANT is a promising sprinter. The gate however has made his task a tough one. BRACKETS has burnt the punters on numerous occasions however Pike goes on and for that reason he may get one last chance from forgiving punters. Numbers – 8 – 11 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – Juendis and Coleta RACE 8 IT’S IT has been given a freshen-up since his last start over 1400m. He usually races well fresh and he should enjoy being able to settle off the expected hot tempo and rip home late. MAX ALMIGHTY is in career best form. He’ll be cuddled up waiting to explode late. FURIOUS DAME will lead and give a big sight again. FLYING ROAR will likely tack on behind the leader and has claims. Numbers – 10 – 3 – 7 – 6 Suggested Bet – It’s It and save Max Almighty RACE 9 POUNAMU needs to overcome drawing the outside gate in a capacity line-up however he is loaded with talent and it should ensure he gets a clear crack at them. CHOCOLATE HOLIC is a horse on the rise as his record suggests. Harvey goes onto CHASING CHAOS and he has drawn to get a beautiful run. COUNTERCAT should get a lovely run from a good draw. Numbers – 4 -6 – 2 – 10 Suggested Bet – Pounamu win QUADDIE RACE 6 – 1, 2, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12 RACE 7 – 6, 7, 8, 11, 16, 17 RACE 8 – 3, 6, 7, 10 RACE 9 – 2, 4, 6, 10 [button class=”bet-now” style=”btn-default btn-lg” type=”link” target=”false” title=”Bet Now” link=”https://www.tabtouch.com.au/racing/2016-09-03/pr” linkrel=””]
