Greg’s Belmont Best Bets Posted on July 1, 2016July 6, 2016 | Posted by Greg Hooper Greg Hooper’s Preview RACE 1 VEUVE DE VEGA backs from a big win last week over 1200m. The drop back to 1000m is a query however he will get all the favours from a good draw and be hard to hold out. DAINTY TESS was scratched from last week to be saved for this. She’s the main danger. INVINCIBLE MODE is speedy and can give them something to catch. PARADING has trialled well. Numbers – 1 – 2 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – Veuve De Vega win RACE 2 BARAKI BEATS should be able to find the front and improve sharply on a couple of recent indifferent purposes. At his best he takes plenty of catching at this level. GEORGE ‘N’ ERNIE ran well under his 59kg impost in midweek grade. He drops down to 54kg and has drawn to get a soft run. GRANLARADO continues to miss the kick which is making his task of winning races tricky. FORESEEN can sit on the speed and give some cheek. Numbers – 2 – 8 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – Baraki Beats and George ‘N’ Ernie RACE 3 This is a race where opinions will be divided. MY GREEK BOY returned with an impressive win at Kalgoorlie (the runner-up has subsequently won). From gate 1 he should get a lovely trail on the leader’s back and go close. KLONDIKE KENNY returns from a five week freshen-up. His top end form sees him right in this, particularly after the claim for Randy Tan. UPTOWN FUNK is flying and will get a lovely run from gate 3. JOUKAKU was given none first-up and can improve at any old price. Numbers – 7 – 11 – 4 – 9 Suggested Bet – My Greek Boy and Klondike Kenny RACE 4 BONNY ZARA has returned a different mare this campaign winning two of her three starts and having genuine excuses in her defeat. She should get a lovely run just behind the speed and be very hard to hold out. INFATHUATED appears the main danger. He was a tough first-up winner and then was forced to a stack of work at his most recent outing. Pike takes over for the suspended Lucy Warwick. FUTURISM is hard to catch but she does appear close to a win. She had no luck at her most recent outing. HELM’S GATE will settle off the speed and work home well. Numbers – 6 – 2 – 9 – 10 Suggested Bet – Bonny Zara win RACE 5 DRUPA will settle right on the speed and give a big kick. He meets a couple of his main dangers at better weights terms and gets his chance for a deserved win. SHINTA MANI is always a big chance at this level. DARK MUSKET will get a soft run from gate 1 and Pike retains the mount. The 59kg is the query. PALACE INTRUDER was solid at his first run over a trip last start and can improve off that effort. Numbers – 8 – 4 – 1 -10 Suggested Bet – Drupa each-way RACE 6 VEGA MAGIC is a star in the making and he should be make it four straight win. He has the speed to either lead or breeze from his wide gate and will be too powerful for these. IT’S IT ran second to him first-up. He should finish in the same spot again. BRISANTO takes on the older horses but drops in weight. GIGANTE sits handy to the speed and has place claims. Numbers – 1 – 9 – 10 – 3 Suggested Bet – Vega Magic win RACE 7 NEW TIME has been better at his last two starts and he can find the front from gate 2 and give a big sight. MAD BRAD ran well last start and Pike goes on. MALIBU STYLE finds it hard to win but he gets a very soft run and has claims. FLYTEGO looks just about ready. Numbers – 8 – 9 – 11 – 3 Suggested Bet –New Time win RACE 8 MY MAGIC MISS has excelled since stepping up to staying trip and she looks the one to beat in this event. She should tag the speed and be hard to run down. PRESENT ARMS was doing his best work late over the mile. He showed last campaign he can stay. TOPPA DAWOZZA gets a soft run from a good draw. READY TO FIRE attacks this second-up and Harvey takes the ride. Numbers – 6 – 1 – 13 – 4 Suggested Bet – My Magic Miss and Present Arms QUADDIE RACE 5 – 1, 4, 8, 10 RACE 6 – 1 RACE 7 – 1, 3, 7, 8, 9, 11 RACE 8 – 1, 4, 6, 13 Bet Now
