Greg’s Saturday Belmont Best Bets Posted on September 16, 2016September 19, 2016 | Posted by Greg Hooper Greg Hooper’s Preview RACE 1 LITE’N IN MY VEINS looks to a have a class edge on this field and he should be very hard to beat on his return to the track. He’s yet to race at Belmont Park however his racing pattern suggests the long straight will suit his pattern of winding up and coming with a sustained burst. IT’S IT looks the obvious danger. He enjoyed a nice passage when returning from a let-up and won well. MAX ALMIGHTY is always a chance in this grade. CASTLE RETREAT next best. Numbers – 1 – 3 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – LITE’N IN MY VEINS RACE 2 Little between CHOCOLATE HOLIC and POUNAMU as was shown at their last clash. Leaning towards CHOCOLATE HOLIC just on the basis that he’s proving he does have the killer instinct. CHARLESTOWN drops back in distance after winning the Apprentices Cup. He will box seat from gate 1. BLACKWOOD is close to breaking back into the winner’s circle. Numbers – 1 – 4 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – CHOCOLATE HOLIC WIN RACE 3 KING LOUIE didn’t get the best of luck when resuming from a spell. He derives plenty of benefit from that run and should settle handier from a good draw. COOL DE LAGO has shown enough in her trials to suggest she has ability and Paul Harvey takes the ride. SHREWD GAMBLE should improve off his first-up run. HE’S ON PAROLE has been finding the line nicely in his trials. Numbers – 2 – 14 – 3 – 9 Suggested Bet – KING LOUIE WIN RACE 4 BONNY BE GOOD looks the best of the day. She was a dominant winner first-up beating the highly rated Caipirinha. This race doesn’t look much harder and if she reproduces her first-up win she’ll win again. ROYAL MISSILE has shown ability in both runs and she has trialled well for her return. WHERE’S WALY is promising type. He gets the pie run but this is his acid test. MICA LIL improved sharply at Northam. Numbers – 5 – 8 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – BONNY BE GOOD WIN SUPERPICK – BONNY BE GOOD – MONEY BACK – RUN 2ND RACE 5 The unbeaten mare AMELIA’S LOVE looks a terrific chance to make it three from three. She was a big winner first-up and if she can make use of her good draw and settle get the splits she should be to powerful. TRANSGRESSOR is a very quick horse who had no luck at his most recent outing. If he can lead and dictate he can win. AUDIENCE is another very fast type. POP HERO loves the 1000m and has place claims. Numbers – 5 – 8 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – AMELIA’S LOVE WIN RACE 6 SWEET ORA is simply flying. She’s better than these and if she can produce her best she’ll win again. SNOW LORD raced greenly on debut. He can improve. GUEST EXPRESS is tough and will race on the speed. OUR TIME WILL COME will burn along in front and has claims. Numbers – 1 – 7 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – SWEET ORA WIN RACE 7 CRONKITE returns from a 8 week let-up. He is two from two since joining the Williams team. He will get the pie run from gate 1 and with normal luck should beat these. CHASING CHAOS has been racing well without being able to deliver the killer blow. ALREADY FAMOUS can sprint well fresh. PRYING TOM looked good on debut at Northam on debut. Numbers – 5 – 3 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – CRONKITE WIN RACE 8 Very tricky race to finish the program. VOLKOFF finished strongly when clear over the final 150m when resuming. She’ll sit off the speed and be hard to hold out. COOL PASSION disappointed when resuming from a let-up. She can improve sharply. KENNOCHA flies fresh and is a quality sprinter. BENITO will give a big sight on speed. Numbers – 10 – 7 – 8 – 5 Suggested Bet – Volkoff and Cool Passion QUADDIE RACE 5 – 4, 5, 8 RACE 6 – 1, 7 RACE 7 – 5 RACE 8 – 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10 Bet Now
