Greg’s Ascot Preview Posted on October 28, 2016October 31, 2016 | Posted by Greg Hooper Greg Hooper’s Preview RACE 1 GOLDEN TRIGGER was very good on debut when he parked wide throughout and was run down by a smart one late. He’s got an ugly draw again but with race experience on his side and a little more luck in running he goes close. IBIZA looked very sharp in her 400m trial win. HARD OF HEART has showed ability in his trials and Harvey rides. MYSTERY AFFAIR won her trial well and the shades go on for race track debut. Numbers – 1 – 9 – 3 – 11 Suggested Bet – GOLDEN TRIGGER WIN RACE 2 SWEET ORA will appreciate a fast run race and should be able to get over the top of these. ATACAMA SKY worked on the speed fresh and tired late. With a more economical run on the speed he can improve sharply. MISS SOMEBODY led and won her maiden well at Northam. PRECIOUS MEMORIES returned lame first-up. If she can produce her best she would give the race a big nudge. Numbers – 1 – 3 – 9 – 8 Suggested Bet – SWEET ORA WIN RACE 3 Small but very competitive field. STAR EXHIBIT raced a bit flat first-up. Expecting him to improve off that run and go close. SCALES OF JUSTICE has burnt the punters at both runs this campaign. He’ll sit right on the speed and be in the finish again. FLYING ROAR can lead and dictate. POUNAMU will ridden stone cold and saved up for a big finish. Numbers – 3 – 4 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – STAR EXHIBIT WIN RACE 4 HELM’S GATE is not the easiest horse to catch but in an open race he appears to have genuine each-way claims. He will get a lovely run from a good draw. FOREVER DIAMONDS is looking for the 1500m. ALL TOO MUCH should get a soft run on the speed and is suited with the drop back in trip. PUSH TO PASS put on an exhibition first-up at Geraldton. He can measure up off that run. Numbers – 5 – 3 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – HELM’S GATE AND FOREVER DIAMONDS RACE 5 STATE SOLICITOR looks one of the most exciting types in the state. He resumes with the benefit of a strong trial win and should take care of business first-up. LET IT SLIP has a big finish. She’ll be coiled up from a good draw and can run second. PROFIT STREET ran well first-up. He can finish powerfully with conditions to suit. FLYTEGO excels at this track and should get a nice run from a good draw. Numbers – 8 – 7 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – STATE SOLICITOR WIN RACE 6 Terrific edition of the Prince Of Wales Stakes. Not a great deal of speed for a 1000m race with VEGA MAGIC appearing he should be able to get a relatively soft lead. For that reason happy to have this very exciting type on top. In his short career to date he produced some phenomenal wins where he has gapped his rivals on numerous occasions. This is clearly a big step up and his acid test however expecting him to measure up and stamp himself as a genuine contender for the Winterbottom Stakes. FIRST AMONG EQUALS looks the main danger. He’s a sprinter who flies fresh and is blessed with a big finish. From gate 3 expect him to get the pie run and be ready to strike. COOL PASSION won well at her most recent. Harvey retains the ride and if she gets some luck from her draw she’ll figure. ROCK MAGIC raced well fresh and this distance. Numbers – 5 – 2 – 9 – 1 Suggested Bet – VEGA MAGIC AND FIRST AMONG EQUALS RACE 7 Another feature that does appear devoid of much tempo. GREAT SHOT should be able to lead and dictate terms. HEART STARTER was terrific first-up where he beat Chocolate Holic who subsequently turned it on at Northam when winning the Cup. He’ll drop back from an awkward draw but watch for him to gobbling these up late. IDEAL IMAGE has returned to racing in a great manner. She has a poor draw but she’ll likely roll forward and if she doesn’t use to much early fuel she’s the one to run down. GREAT SHOT has been a little flat at both runs this campaign. With a soft lead he can improve. NEVERLAND is looking for further but from a good draw has claims. Numbers – 7 – 3 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – HEART STARTER WIN SuperPick - Race 7 No. 7 HEART STARTER - Profit Plus – 25% (Win) RACE 8 BRACKETS should be able to trail the speed from gate 1 and if the gaps appear on straightening he’s going well enough to beat these. TRANSGRESSOR can lead and give a big sight with his lightweight. WAR IN PARIS will need some luck from a sticky draw but will get the services of P Harvey. CANDLELIGHT STAR ran well first-up when he was caught wide. Numbers – 3 – 12 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – BRACKETS WIN QUADDIE Race 5 – 8 Race 6 – 2, 5 Race 7 – 3, 4, 6, 7 Race 8 – 3, 5, 8, 11, 12, 14 Bet Now
