Greg Hooper’s Ascot Preview Posted on November 16, 2016November 17, 2016 | Posted by Greg Hooper Greg Hooper’s Preview RACE 1 IBIZA finished a tailed off last on debut after meeting strong betting support. Post race she was found to have got her tongue over the bit. The tongue tie goes on and if she races to what is expected on the back of a impressive 400m trial she should be too slick for these. METALLIC QUEEN didn’t get the best of luck in her race track debut. She has since trialled well. Hard to really make much of the trials for the debutantes however ENACTMENT showed good fight and COOL INTRIGUE hails from a strong yard and should show plenty of early zip. Numbers – 6 – 8 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – IBIZA WIN RACE 2 HURRICANE JACK is on the quick back-up after a solid effort last week in a better class of race than this. On that occasion he jumped got back in running, was caught behind some slow runners approaching the turn and finished well in a race dominate by speed horse. Expecting he’ll be improved off that run and can settle much closer in running. GENERAL HUSSON has been around the mark in all his career starts. If he can get some luck from a wide draw he can win. VERY TEMPTING worked home well at Bunbury. Pike goes on. MASTER MAGICIAN trialled well. Numbers – 1 – 3 – 13 – 9 Suggested Bet – HURRICANE JACK WIN SuperPick - Race 2 No. 1 HURRICANE JACK - Money Back – Run 2nd RACE 3 CHIN STRAP is one of the better credentialed maidens in the state. If he can reproduce his fast finishing last start second behind the very smart Sweet Ora he beats these. GATTING was a solid winner on debut at Northam. HERRON POINT will probably be suited over further but has strong place claims. DUSTY STORM next best. Numbers – 2 – 3 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – CHIN STRAP WIN RACE 4 These stayers tend to mix their form. MAJOR MAMBO battled away solidly at Bunbury in a leader dominated race. He was jumping from a mile to a staying trip so expecting improvement. DO YOU DO will be right on the speed and is the one to run down. BEG TO DIFFER rises 3.5kg on his last start win but he’s a horse on the rise and this looks weaker. CALL NINE ONE ONE returns from a freshen-up. He’s a capable stayer. Numbers – 4 – 3 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – MAJOR MAMBO RACE 5 BEAUCOUNT looks a class above these and will take a stack of beating despite the 60kg impost. He’s been tuned up with two trials and Steven Parnham should be able to camp him right behind the speed and hopefully he’ll be too strong late. TOMOHAWK looks the logical danger. He was a strong first-up winner. DETANGO won well on debut and has trialled well. KRYTO KID can lead and fall into the first four. Numbers – 1 – 2 – 9 – 7 Suggested Bet – BEAUCOUNT WIN RACE 6 RIVER DANCE drops in class and gets his chance for second career win. Expecting he’ll be ridden closer to the speed and be hard to beat. KING LOUIE will sit off the speed and finish strongly. DISCO METAL has trialled well and Pike rides. FREMOND is a Saturday horse when at his best. Numbers – 7 – 4 – 9 – 3 Suggested Bet – RIVER DANCE RACE 7 PEGGY SUE should be ready to peak at her third run back from a spell. Chris Parnham teams up with her which is a plus as he has steered her home at her only career win to date. REGAL ROUGE looks very close to a win. If she can find some cover from a wide draw she goes close. SOURCE OF SURVIVAL will get a cheap run behind the speed. FERMENTATION is hard to catch but expecting a strong performance off a freshen-up. Numbers – 9 – 4 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – PEGGY SUE AND REGAL ROGUE RACE 8 Wide open finish to the program. NEXT CONTESTANT produced an eye-catcher first-up. The increase in distance and expected strong tempo will suit. DANGEROUS GAME is another suited by a strong tempo and Pike rides for Justin Warwick. PHANTOM CHOICE is so honest and will be in the finish. HELM’S GATE will be running on late. Numbers – 3 – 11 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – NEXT CONTESTANT AND DANGEROUS GAME QUADDIE Race 5 – 1, 2, 9 Race 6 – 3, 4, 6, 7, 9 Race 7 – 1, 4, 6, 7, 9 Race 8 – 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 11 Bet Now
