Greg Hooper’s Ascot Saturday Preview Posted on May 12, 2017 | Posted by Greg Hooper Greg Hooper’s Preview RACE 1 TOP OF THE CLASS looks a quality filly. She steamed home fresh producing a devastating late turn of foot. This race looks no harder and she should win again. THE CELT may go forward and if he can dictate terms in front he has place claims. SWEET ORA hasn’t returned in the same form again but beats most of these on ability alone. HALLDORA races handy to the speed. Numbers – 5 – 2 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet –TOP OF THE CLASS WIN RACE 2 Hard to miss the run of DETANGO from last start. She looked set for a big win until she copped a severe check. This race is very weak and she should be too strong. CAPRICORN DANCER is on the quick back-up after racing competitively at Pinjarra on Thursday. AWESOME AS can lead and give a sight. SECRET DOUBT next best. Numbers – 2 – 6 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – DETANGO WIN RACE 3 MILITARY RULER has a terrific second-up card and can run a big race at odds. He was put out of play first-up when he missed the kick. Expecting him to race much handier to the speed and improve sharply. MAJINIKA and ASTRONOMITE look the two other major players. RED PUBLISHER is hard to catch but if he races to his optimum he can test these. Numbers – 2 -3 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – MILITARY RULER WIN RACE 4 CAPPO D’ORO is bursting to win another race. The wide gate should suit as he likes to wind up through his gears and Pike jumps on. ROSEWOOD HILL is on the quick back-up after chalking up a deserving win on Wednesday. She appears the main danger. STRIKING STAR may lead and give a sight at odds. PROXY is a perennial placegetter. Numbers – 1 – 5 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – CAPPO D’ORO WIN RACE 5 TOUCH OF SILVER is a classy type working his way through the grades quickly. By all reports he was scratched last week to be saved for this. After the claim for Clint Johnston-Porter he goes around with the luxury weight of 52.5kg. He should be too good. NORTH RIDGE enjoyed a lovely passage at his most recent start and proved too strong. He looks the danger. MY MAGIC MISS drops back to 1800m and is having her first run for a month. CORPORATE LARRIKIN is a query at the trip but rolling in front he can finish in the first four. Suggested – 7 – 1 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – TOUCH OF SILVER WIN SuperPick - Race 5 No. 7 TOUCH OF SILVER - Profit Plus – 25% (Win) RACE 6 RUBIA MISS was solid first-up and the blinkers go on which should sharpen her up. If she can cross from wide then she gets her chance. LIES IN DISGUISE ran well in the same race and appears the main danger of the raced brigade. EPIC GREY has impressed in his trials and Pike goes on for his debut. MONSOON has shown enough in his two starts to suggest he will be competitively. Numbers – 6 – 7 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – RUBIA MISS AND LIES IN DISGUISE RACE 7 CAPIRINHA is a high class filly who toyed with a similar bunch of horses first-up. She should do the same again. DELICATE MISS can hold up and lead or box seat. She looks a strong place hope again. THE RIVER is another who should be able to get into the first-four. MR MOTOWN next best. Numbers – 4 – 2 – 9 – 7 Suggested Bet – CAIPIRINHA WIN RACE 8 This looks the most competitive race on the program. JASPARA resumes from a spell and has been tuned up with a soft trial effort. His best is good enough to pinch a race like this. COME ON BARD has worked hard at his last two starts. WAR JEUNE is a horse on the up. GREY ENIGMA is tracking nicely and has drawn a gate where he can park behind the speed and let down strongly. Numbers – 5 – 14 – 9 – 2 Suggested Bet – JASPARA AND COME ON BOARD Bet Now
