Ascot December 12 – Thoroughbreds Preview Posted on December 11, 2015December 14, 2015 | Posted by Greg Hooper Greg Hooper’s tips RACE 1 – SELL LEASE PROPERTY PLATE 1100m No. 1 SWEDISH MEMORIES – Happy to stick with the race experienced gelding SWEDISH MEMORIES in this opening race of the program. He did some early and mid race work on debut and battled on strongly. From barrier 3 he can lead or box seat. (5) TRADEMARK was green in her 900m trial however she still finished off nicely recording an impressive win. (2) I AM INCREDIBLE ran well in his 400m trial. (3) NEXT GENERATION showed speed his 400m trial where he defeated the stablemate. Suggested Bet – Swedish Memories win RACE 2 – AMELIA PARK HANDICAP 1200m No. 3 VEGA MAGIC – Sean Casey has an exciting prospect on his hands with VEGA MAGIC and he should be making it back to back wins in this 3YO sprint. (4) MYSTIC MAID has had a pong preparation however she continues to race well and looks the danger. (2) AIRLIE SUN will settle off the speed and get home strongly. (7) LUCKY LEGACY can improve on her average last start effort. Suggested Bet – Vega Magic win RACE 3 – PERTH CUP DAY AT ASCOT – JAN 2 HANDICAP 1600m No. 2 BATTLE TORQUE – I’m happy to give BATTLE TORQUE another chance in this moderate 3YO handicap. He wasn’t suited last week settling at the rear and he can improve sharply with a more positive ride. Clint Johnston-Porter jumps back on so he is well weighted on 54.5kg. (1) WHO DAT SINGA is the class runner of the race. He led and beaten less than a length in the Fairetha before drawing the car park in the Guineas. The 59kg is the query however he is the testing material. (5) LONE CHOICE broke his maiden well and Pike sticks, (8) INCOMING TIDE gets a soft run from gate 1 and has claims. Suggested Bet – Battle Torque each-way RACE 4 – BOOK YOUR CHRISTMAS FUNCTION AT ASCOT HANDICAP 1500m No. 1 LUNAR ECLIPSE – This looks a nice assignment for LUNAR ECLIPSE. He attacked the line well fresh and then had no luck when being caught wide and back on a leader/rail dominated program. He’ll settle off the speed and if they are making ground he’ll be hard to hold out. (9) SAKER is a talented type. The seven weeks between runs and the bar plate going are the concerns. (8) RODEO DRIVE has found form. She camp on the speed and can win again. (5) INDI PACIFIC will work forward and has claims. Suggested Bet – Lunar Eclipse and Saker RACE 5 – SPONSOR A RACE – CONTACT PERTH RACING HANDICAP 2200m No. 5 SHINTA MANI – Promising staying mare SHINTA MANI looks one of the best bets on the program in this moderate 2200m handicap. She toyed with her rivals at her most recent outing and from gate 3 she should get a similar run and prove too strong. (8) ENTRECHAT is untried over the journey however she attacked the line at her most recent outing. She looks the main danger. (2) MOONSEARCH is racing well. (1) SAVANAROLA should be nearing peak fitness at his third run back from a spell. Suggested Bet- Shinta Mani win RACE 6 – PERTH RACING INSTAGRAM HANDICAP 2200m No. 10 STEEL SPUR – This looks a much more even staying race. I’m going for some value and selecting STEEL SPUR. He finished off nicely last start when the race was all over. He should be able to settle handier to the speed and has each-way claims. (5) PROPERANTES is the class runner of the race. He’s untried at the trip however he’s giving every indication he’ll stay and he will get all the favours from gate 2. (2) BEDAMIJO is under rated and can win again. (6) COUGAR EXPRESS should be hitting his peak at his third run back from a spell. Suggested Bet – Steel Spur each-way RACE 7 – PERTH RACING YOUNG MEMBERSHIP HANDICAP 1200m No. 7 EXPRESS DANCER – The early scratching of On Trend has set this race up for the impressive last start winner EXPRESS DANCER. He was backed as if unbeatable and was able to rail from last and storm clear late. If he reproduces that type of effort he wins again. (1) MAX ALMIGHTY is a talented type who resumes for his new trainer Adam Durrant. He can run a race fresh. (2) MUSKETS AT DAWN is a tough on speed type however he struggles to win. (6) AUNTY ZELMA gets a cheap run from gate 1. Suggested Bet – Express Dancer win RACE 8 – PERTH RACING #ascothappens HANDICAP 1200m No. 6 CARRY THE NATION – I’m going for the closers in this final race of the day. CARRY THE NATION is a gelding blessed with a big finish when on song. He’s trialled super and he should be motoring at the business end. (7) FLYTEGO has found the right race. (11) MALIBU STYLE was close up in listed grade last week. (10) FLYING ROAR should get a lovely run and gets some nice weight relief. Suggested Bet – Carry The Nation and Flytego QUADDIE RACE 5 – 5 RACE 6 – 2, 5, 6, 10 RACE 7 – 1, 2, 6, 7 RACE 8– 1, 2, 4, 6, 7, 10, 11
