Greg Hooper’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on March 10, 2017 | Posted by Greg Hooper Greg Hooper’s Preview RACE 1 ARRUM BOY came to the races with a big boom on him however he was no match at all for the smart Debellatio. The drop back to 1000m looks a positive and he has drawn to lead. GALVESTON BAY was well supported on debut and was solid. He can improve off that run and compete strongly. ONE FINAL WERD has shown enough in her trials to suggest she can run a race on debut. Pike goes onto KISS BANG LOVE and she has first-four claims. Numbers – 2 – 3 – 9 – 7 Suggested Bet – ARRUM BOY WIN RACE 2 FRATERNIZE was a dominant on speed winner first-up at Pinjarra. He raced waywardly in the straight but was never going to be run down. He should be able to camp right over a strong speed and prove very hard to hold out. MORE ACES led and blitzed them second-up. If he can hold up from gate 2 he is the one to run down. MANTIME will get off the speed and find the line. UNDISCLOSED is a query at 1100m but she gives a sight on the speed. Numbers – 8 – 1 – 9 – 3 Suggested Bet – FRATERNIZE WIN SuperPick - Race 2 No.8? FRATERNIZE - Profit Plus – 25% (Win) RACE 3 Classy mare JESTAJINGLE looks very hard to beat in this one metro win sprint. She was huge in defeat in the Jungle Mist last campaign parking wide throughout. This race lacks depth and if she can cross from wide to lead or breeze she goes very close. REGAL GLEAM is a tough mare with a terrific strike rate. She should be able to burn over to settle in the first couple in running. STAR GLITTER is hard to catch but from gate 1 he should be able to get a soft run and with clear room finish strongly. PRESENTATIE camps midfield and has claims. Numbers – 13 – 1 – 4 – 8 Suggested Bet – JESTAJINGLE SAVE REGAL GLEAM RACE 4 THREE VOTES is a highly promising sprinter. He returns from a 7 week let-up and the bar plates go on which is a query however he still going to be extremely hard to beat. SEEKER is flying. He defied the bias last start when charging clear for his third straight win. CONSEATED finds this harder than her first-up win. MARCHAND is always a chance over this trip. Numbers – 11 – 6 – 7 – 9 Suggested Bet – THREE VOTES WIN RACE 5 MAJINIKA had every mortal last start but was unable to pick up the tough leader Corporate Larrikin. There does look to be a bit more pressure in this race and he should get the pie run camped behind it and go very close again. SO WHO’S HARRY was poor first-up at Pinjarra. He’s been sent back to the trials since and a much-improved showing is expected. INFATHUATED has the blinkers going on which should liven him up. CORPORATE LARRIKIN is always some chance from in front. Suggested – 7 – 5 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – MAJINIKA AND SO WHO’S HARRY RACE 6 VEUVE DE VEGA looks a terrific chance to find the front, dictate and go very close. His effort next to Precious Memories and Gangbuster is outstanding form for a race like this. W Pike onto PRYING TOM is a significant riding change. He has ridden this gelding three times posting three wins. He hasn’t had the best of luck at his last two starts and it wouldn’t surprise to see him in the breeze position. POLITICS is a short kick horse who needs things to go his way but he has claims again. CANNA LILY should get a soft run from gate and can fill a spot for the first-four. Numbers – 8 –5 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – PRYING TOM AND VEUVE DE VEGA RACE 7 Not a great deal between a number of these. GANGBUSTER gets the nod as he should be able to tag the speed from gate 2 and then be held up for a big finishing burst. FINAL SALUTE put in the real eye-catcher in the Lex Piper. If he wins this then he’ll take some beating in the Derby. MYCROFT rises significantly in class after a Bunbury maiden win however it was hard not to be taken with the emphatic nature of the win. WESTERN TEMPLE can settle leaders back. Numbers – 1 – 5 – 11 – 6 Suggested Bet – GANGBUSTER WIN RACE 8 Thin race to finish the program. ELEVEN SECONDS has been very consistent all campaign. He can lead and give a big sight over a trip which looks ideal. POINT was excellent last week behind a smart one. Pike on is a big plus. WAR KSAR measures up off his last start effort. BLACKWOOD is almost sacked but beats most on ability alone. Numbers – 3 – 2 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – ELEVEN SECONDS AND POINT Bet Now
