Race 1

Racing at Doomben on Saturday should be on a good deck with a dry week behind us & a positive weekend outlook. (1) WRIGLEY FIELD gets the nod in this opening race, close up all 3 starts since coming from Victoria he gets to a mile which looks very suitable & although up in the weights (significantly) he draws the inside gate which should ensure an economical run. Gollan trained stablemates (2) DUST CLOUD & (6) LISTEN JANI will both race on speed & come into the race off last start wins.

Numbers: 1 – 2 – 6 – 4

Suggested Bet: WRIGLEY FIELD TO WIN.

Race 2

Throw at the stumps here with (7) MISHANI MOET who can mix her form a little however on her day is up to running well in a race such as this. She wasn’t all that far away in a couple of better races during the carnival & did look good winning at the Gold Coast two back. Last start nothing panned out yet she was less than 3 lengths from the winner. (9) SHELSTEIN looms as the hardest to beat, nice improvement last start should be ready to peak third run back. (1) MEAN APPROACH drops back from 1400m to 1200m which suits.

Numbers: 7 – 9 – 1 – 12

Suggested Bet: MISHANI MOET EACH-WAY (small bet).

Race 3

Looks the right race for (1) BLAZING HARRY to break through having chased home the equine ATM Braveheart at his past two starts with the latest of those being here last Saturday when no match. Down in grade today he gets Bella Youngberry’s claim & draws to get the right run. (3) GAMBINO is in peak form, decent weight rise even with the claim & he won here his only start at the trip. (6) CARRAVILLA missed out last Sunday however was heavily backed to win, where there’s smoke…

Numbers: 1 – 3 – 6 – 10

Suggested Bet: BLAZING HARRY TO WIN.

Race 4

D-Day for (2) FURNAO however in all fairness he hasn’t been running badly, just frustratingly without luck. Too far back in a race not run to suit here last Saturday he closed strongly, the start prior he also hit the line hard. With time to wind up he can break through. (5) CHILLAXING can do a bit wrong however when on his game as he was last start he’s more than capable. (6) CORMAC T & (7) CAPTAIN MAVERICK in the mix also.

Numbers: 2 – 5 – 6 – 7

Suggested Bet: FURNAO EACH-WAY.

Race 5

(6) MANPOWER scratched from an earlier race looks well placed to win this. Game in defeat at Eagle Farm when leading & setting a solid tempo he was worn down only late by the winner who is in cracking form. That was 1200m, he’s back to the 1110m here & draws perfectly. Bella Youngberry’s claim a bonus & she’s riding well. (15) SPEITHTACULAR resumes, out of the leading yard she raced well last prep & has trialled well for her return, expect her too to settle on speed. Include (11) CORRUPTED who holds an impressive first up record.

Numbers: 6 – 15 – 11 – 5

Suggested Bet: MANPOWER TO WIN.

Race 6

Looks a suitable race for (6) LET’SFACETHEMUSIC to return to the winner list. Bolting in here two starts back accounting for the since twice won Braveheart he then clocked in fourth last start when absolutely nothing went right, the effort to be beaten under half a length was a very good one. He maps well today & can bounce back. (11) ZOUBABY has the right form however the wrong gate, she will give a start & should they not go hard her work will be cut out to make up the ground, should it be run genuinely or better though she’s a big chance of mowing down the leaders. (1) FLEETWOOD is capable of running well fresh, market watch.

Race 7

Big numbers with a max of 15 to run, this race could change significantly post scratchings. I’m leaning to (16) READY TO IGNITE who got out with a big lead at Eagle Farm when over racing, still looking a chance half-way down the straight he felt the pinch late however still did a good job holding on for third. He can give a sight once again. (3) LUTON HOO draws ideally & is a model of consistency, with Jace McMurray to ride ticks plenty of boxes today. (4) LARRIKIN ROGUE (barrier rogue) & (14) LAND BANK (wide gate) in the hunt however will need things to pan out.

Numbers: 16 – 3 – 4 – 14

Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics.

Race 8

Banking on (1) STAR OF JAMAICA to bounce back here. Absolutely nothing panned out first up when not the best to jump & ending up back in the field which is not his pattern at all. Competitive in Golden Slipper lead-ups in Sydney during the autumn that form line is lengths above anything he meets here. Drawn the pole gate expect him to race on speed from the outset, I’m expecting to see a completely different horse today. (6) RUN LIKE A GIRL comes out of the same last start race when protesting unsuccessfully against the winner who was very wayward late in the straight, suggest this filly would have won with an unimpeded finish. (14) YOTEI is one of 4 acceptors in the race for Rob Heathcote, well beaten on debut however spelled & is trialling encouragingly.

Suggested Bet: STAR OF JAMAICA TO WIN.

Race 9

Looks a tricky race with five runners resuming, wouldn’t be the least surprised to see an upset. (2) SER JOH & (10) SURPRISE HONEY ran the quinella here a fortnight back over 1200m, both yet to win out to this longer trip? The resuming (4) BRINDAVAN, (5) BLAZEN BOOTS, (9) MAKE A CALL & (11) REZONE are all capable of a big fresh run & should the lies of 2 & 10 be vulnerable late they are the runners capable of mowing them down. I’m also expecting (12) ACAPPELLA SUN to improve with the big weight drop. If you haven’t worked it out yet, this race has me totally stumped!

Suggested Bet: Box up as many is you can in exotics.

Race 10

Leaning to (1) ANEMACORE in this closing race however I’m not as confident as last start. There doesn’t look to be any real speed in the race, his inside draw is a help in that regard as is the rise in trip, he should be close enough to strike however has 61kg to lump. (7) EXPRESS PAYMENT was the horse he ran down last start; there’s a weight turnaround of 1kg for the 0.3 length margin. Last start winner (10) CUNNAMULLA FELLA in the mix also.
