Scott Embry’s Friday Carnarvon Preview

Race 1

TANGO RHYTHM had her first start for new trainer Peter Daly when beaten the narrowest of margins behind Magic Carats at 1000m. They kicked 2.5L clear of the third placed horse and that should put her in good stead to break through at her second run for the new connections. Visors on instead of blinkers and looks the right race for her. ANY QUESTIONS has his first start in the State and on the surface, but Sean Rains’ horses go super fresh and his minor placings rate up well enough to give this lowly country maiden a shake. COSTA STAR was the distant third in the Tango Rhythm race and backs up off 6 days from missing the kick at Roebourne. THE SESSIONE should lead them but is fading out late.

Numbers: 7 – 1 – 6 – 2

Suggested Bet – TANGO RHYTHM WIN

Race 2

DEVILS I was able to turn the tables on Aardvark in the Minilya Sprint and this race looks even better for him! He gets out to 1400m, a distance that he’s already proven at, and with Tash Faithfull sticking he really stands out here. Maps to stalk the speedsters and presents at the right time. Very hard to beat but likely very short. LACEVINSKY will attempt to lead this time around and that makes him a big improver and likely the main danger. RED REBEL ran second to a really nice horse at Roebourne last week in Immortal Shield. Wouldn’t surprise to see that form hold up. CORN COB meets him worse at the weights after being beaten over 6L but he’s much better suited at 1400 than 1200.

Numbers: 3 – 2 – 6 – 1

Suggested Bet – DEVILS I WIN

Race 3

MAGIC CARATS is a last start maiden winner at 1000m but that was probably more of a barrier trial for him than anything. Expect that Tango Rhythm will frank the maiden form in the opener and while many may be scared off being up 2kg and up 600m this is his preferred distance range. He looks the kind of horse who can go maiden – C1/C2 – C3 – 58+ in the one campaign on the dirt. MR HOLLYWOOD is 1 from 55, yet he’s quite possibly the biggest threat to Magic Carats. Went around in a Roebourne Cup last weekend and beat half of them home and prior to that was only 5L off Only us. Going okay. HOT NOVA beat him home in the Awexan race on 30 May and is trying hard. SWISHGOANGO won a very soft maiden in slow time.

Numbers: 1 – 5 – 7 – 2

Suggested Bet – MAGIC CARATS WIN

Race 4

SWEXAN has led and won a C1 1400 on the dirt at Carnarvon as well as sustained a run around them to win a 56+ 1200. Last time out looked a real risk, even though he (somehow) jumped odds on. He was back to 1000m mid-prep and was drawn the outside – looked destined to do it tough and that’s how it panned out. 1200m means he can bounce out and settle up over the speed and that should see him going close to returning to the winner’s circle. OUR KIWI PRINCESS nearly won a 64+ at Carnarvon first-up. Hasn’t had much go her way since and wasn’t disgraced in the Minilya. SHOOTING KONTIKI ran third at Roebounre last week behind Star Power. Was beaten fair and square by Swexan the last time they met. INCANDESCENT LADY is speedy and will burn across from the outside.

Numbers: 4 – 1 – 3 – 5

Suggested Bet – SWEXAN WIN

 Race 5

MYSTERY MINUTE was really popular in betting last start but got caught back and wide and just never travelled at any stage. Was scratched at the last meeting and so now comes into this 5 weeks between runs. Tash Faithfull is a big booking for any horse in the region and happy to forgive the one luckless and tough run. Think he can bounce back. SUNSHINE TAFE joins the yard of Peter Daly and he goes straight to Holly Nottle. Series of gear changes and if she could get back to her Kal form of late 2025 she’d be a nice horse for the region. KIMBERLEY CURRENCY won well last start but he does seem to be a 1000m horse. Will he run the 1200? SIMPLY ROSSO is a tough on speeder who gets weight relief with the 4kg claimer on.

Numbers: 2 – 4 – 5 – 1

Suggested Bet – MYSTERY MINUTE WIN

Race 6

ONLY US is looking to make it 5 from 5 in Carnarvon. Had to really dig deep last start to fight off Hundred Yards and now rises another 2kg and another 150m. This does look the toughest test in the region but also think he’s better winding up into the race rather than leading in his own right. Sticking with the winning machine. SHABALALA wasn’t too bad first-up in a fast run 1400 after stepping slow. Can improve quickly and can stay. CANDLELIGHT SHERIF is getting close now. Further they go the better it is for him. He really wants 2000+ but is getting through the dirt well. AWESOME LILY beat him home last start and seemed to appreciate being ridden for speed.

Numbers: 2 – 6 – 7 – 5

Suggested Bet – ONLY US WIN

Race 7

WESTERN IMPACT deserved that last start. He had been building and working towards it and finally got his third Carnarvon win on the board. Same track, same distance, same grade and most importantly same hoop and same map. He runs into Blowin Smoke, Ironclad Boy and Alma Mater and Yes I Believe all again – not much between any of them. Will come down to who gets the right run. YES I BELIEVE has enjoyed dirt life. Big C3 win getting over Undercover Sniper and Swexan and then beat home subsequent winner and key rival Western Impact in the Lets Sea race on 26 June. GOLD SPY is a classy dirt commodity and expect throughout the meeting that the Minilya Sprint form will prove very strong. BLOWIN SMOKE is going super.

Numbers: 5 – 8 – 1 – 4

Suggested Bet – WESTERN IMPACT EACHWAY
