Matt Young’s Friday Gloucester Park Preview Posted on April 30, 2026May 1, 2026 | Posted by Matt Young Race 1 IM CATEGORY FIVE (3) is a quick beginner and will enjoy not feeling the presence of Wishing Belle in this, expecting this filly to look to hold this and run a big race in this. IDEAL BEACH (7) appeared to have every chance last time out, the winner Wake Up Geoff carried the form on with a feature win last week so this will be a good test to see where he is at. CHEFS KISS (1) was solid last time out and has the draw to get the soft run, looks a novelty chance. IN RARE AIR (6) and AMERICAN MACHINE (5) both novelty chances. Tips: 3 7 1 6 Suggested Bet: IM CATEGORY FIVE (3) to win. Race 2 HERES HERBIE (12) was outstanding on WA debut, should dominate again at the short quote. HUNGER STRIKE (4) can do work at both ends and could potentially get to the top and would give them something to catch but will be stretched. PAROQUET (1) is racing well, will need to come out quickly but will be on speed and can run into the money. STARLIGHT DREAM (11) drawn to get a beautiful run and could be dangerous place wise late. FULL SWING DENARIO (5) is capable but faces a tricky draw with CHASE ME (8) and REINETTE (9). Tips: 12 4 11 1 Suggested Bet: STARLIGHT DREAM (11) to place. Race 3 MAXIMUM ROCK (9) couldn’t get into the race last time out and must be respected as the effort two starts ago was good in a strong field, he is versatile and think he could move forward early and run well. RAKLOU (2) was better last time out and could work to the top here and give them something to catch, she’s been a bit slow in getting back to her better form. LOCH TAY (1) is racing well and has the key to the race, should run a bold race. OPAL HUNTER (11) was a good effort behind Heres Herbie last time out and can just stalk them and be dangerous late. FINAL COLLECT (4) is looking to improve but has found it challenging. Tips: 9 1 11 2 Suggested Bet: MAXIMUM ROCK (9) each way. Race 4 LAZI DAIS (9) was solid last time out and has that good early speed where he does appear to begin better from wider draws, think he could charge across and look for the top here and either way be on speed, becomes hard to beat. ARMA BELIEVER (5) has the speed to get across and lead early but has been known to take cover and in a battle, he can come up with the silver medal more than gold. LINCOLN LOU (12) is capable but needs the tempo on and it has the elements to suit. CHIVALRY (7) will roll forward at some point and is a good staying type. BURGHLEY SHARD (1) is a place chance from the draw with BETTOR ARCADE (10) following through. Tips: 9 5 12 7 Suggested Bet: LAZI DAIS (9) to win. Race 5 BETTORS PRIDE (3) will be hunting hard for the top and thought he put the writing on the wall with his last effort at the longest trip available, back to middle distance looks suited and if he leads, I think he’ll get the job done. MAD MONDAY (11) is absolutely flying, won’t get the luxury of leading here so faces a good test to see if he is as potent from back in the field but looks dangerous. IM LIGHTNING BANNER (1) in many aspects holds the key to the race as he has the speed but hard to get a real gauge on him this prep. HUGOTASTIC (4) looking to bounce back after the Nullarbor and is highly talented, could get into a decent spot and be dangerous late with CAPTAIN RAVISHING (9) potential to move forward and was good last time out but the draw levels his chances. FRANCO ENCORE (10) a novelty chance as he loves being on the rail. Tips: 3 11 4 1 Suggested Bet: BETTORS PRIDE (3) to win. Race 6 FABULOUS DREAM (2) can be a hit and miss type but was good to see her return with a better performance and comes up with the draw and looks hard to beat in this. KINKY (4) is flying even if the form line doesn’t read that well numerically, the performances have been outstanding, just needs to keep her head on early and she’ll look threatening at some stage. ICE COLD SAPPORO (12) is racing nicely and can watch things unfold, likes to get on speed. GELSOMINO AMAL (10) is racing well and needs the gaps to open up but she will be running on well and is a novelty chance with ROX THE WORLD (9). Tips: 2 4 12 10 Suggested Bet: KINKY (4) each way. Race 7 SAMMY SUFFARELL (2) has good early speed and was luckless in his recent two efforts and was a big winner when leading three starts ago, very hard to beat in this. HI SUGA RUSH (9) was a good effort in good time last run but faces the wide draw again, has got some good early speed and may push forward. LUVBITE (5) could get a good run here and is racing without much luck and can go close. FLY TO THE FINISH (11), THE WAND WAVER (12) and FRANCO MECCA (10) all novelty chances from their respective draws. Tips: 2 5 9 11 Suggested Bet: SAMMY SUFFARELL (2) to win. Race 8 WAVE REBELLION (6) won on return in a race that was not suited to a horse who was last at the bell, she is a get back run home type so wouldn’t want to be diving in too short, but her best should see her winning her fair share of races this preparation. Early speed will be intriguing, UNDER THE ALTA (1) likes to lead and was a decent winner three starts ago but will be fending out some quick beginners and closers late. TRUNKEY CARRAWA (2) is preferred at a shorter distance but is quite zippy early. BLITZAR (4) and TRUE GRIT (5) likely to push forward for positions early and PINNY NOIR (9) is versatile and could push the button early and be on speed. OFFICIAL ROCK (7) was flying last time in, could likely be coming from the back of the field with WAVE REBELLION (6) and HEAVY METAL HAMMER (10) and MADDY ROCKS (12) both novelty chances. Tips: 6 9 7 1 Suggested Bet: WAVE REBELLION (6) to win. Race 9 HEEZ GOOD AS GOLD (8) could charge across early here and if he gets to the pegs, he can win this, grade suits but wouldn’t want to be diving in too short as he needs to lead to win for mine. ROLLINDOWNTHERIVER (12) is racing soundly, needs some tempo on but can close off strongly. JAMIE KIM (2) has the nice draw, but form has been just ok, respect if he can get to the pegs early. SUGAR STREET (7) capable but has had a few chances in the past and failed to capitalize. YA BETTOR FOLLOWME (9) is capable but the draw hurts. Tips: 8 12 7 9 Suggested Bet: ROLLINDOWNTHERIVER (12) each way. Race 10 MADAM MAGGIE (3) came in fresh in her last run and finished down the track, looks suitable to cross this lineup and be hard to catch out in front. AMBITSIYA (8) has come back well but has been driven for one run, the draw makes it a challenge if they continue in that manner. BOLD JACKIE (1) is a place chance; she was placed in metro company three starts ago. JILL MACH (4) lacks early speed but will be looking for a forward position with JACKIE DANIELS (5) who has been luckless as of late. DAT LOVELY (10) needs luck but is capable. Tips: 3 5 4 8 Suggested Bet: MADAM MAGGIE (3) to win. Market Market
