Chris Nelson’s Saturday Randwick Preview Posted on December 26, 2025December 27, 2025 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 Day 2 of a Christmas double-header with racing at Randwick on Saturday following on from Boxing Day. The track should be good however note the rail is out 10m which could play into the hands of the on-pacers racing on the inside section, time will tell. We get things underway with a 1400m Midway where it’s tough to tip against the in-form favourite (4) OUI OUI OUI who is lining up for the hat trick of wins this afternoon. She brought her winning Newcastle form to this track last start & although up in the weights still looks to have the measure of her opponents. (8) APACHE BREEZE was big odds running on well behind the top tip last start, 1400m is the query though. The poorly drawn albeit very consistent (11) SHE SWINGS & peaking fourth up (4) SATNESS in the mix also. Numbers: 3 – 8 – 11 – 4 Suggested Bet: OUI OUI OUI TO WIN. RACE 2 (8) JOISELLE looks very well placed to break a run of placings in this week’s Midway. Held up in the straight here at her latest run she found the line very strongly once into the clear & with a good record at this longer trip, favourable gate & Braith Nock’s claim she ticks a lot of boxes. (16) ANTILOCAPRA is lightly raced & consistent, form last prep well up to this & she did win first up. (4) FINGERS HUNTER was big odds in a couple of black type races up north in the winter, out of the money on each occasion however far from disgraced, market? Numbers: 8 – 16 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet: JOISELLE TO WIN. RACE 3 Plenty of debutantes going around in this 2yo affair which looks a very interesting race. (15) NATIONS LEAGUE is a 1.7-million-dollar Magic Millions purchase on debut. I’ve liked both recent trials & with the big race only a few weeks away a win here would get him straight into the field. He’s got some big guns in his corner being Waller trained & Coolmore owned. (6) MASVINGO has placed 2 from 2, both have been whilst fresh, fitter this time around. (16) MARWOOBA’s trials have been ok, definite market watch from the yard. Numbers: 15 – 6 – 16 – 8 Suggested Bet: Follow any market support for NATIONS LEAGUE. RACE 4 Only a small field to go around here over the mile where I’m with (5) SUN GOD who drops back in distance which I don’t see being any major issue. He’s versatile & won’t have a lot of rivals to get past that’s for sure! (6) JUST PARTY the logical danger, placed both attempts this trip he looks ready for the step up this afternoon. (2) MARE OF MT BULLER should be ready to fire third-up, she’s another who can’t get too far back here with only limited rivals. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet: Box up top 3 selections in exotics. RACE 5 Debut winner (12) ICE KOOL really impressed at Warwick Farm when well backed into favouritism. Straight to the front he booted clear in the run down the straight winning in solid time with gas in the tank. Dropping 5kg into this tougher race I’m confident he can step up successfully from maiden to Saturday grade in one fell swoop. I’m a wrap for the consistent (3) PETTICOAT, 1100m is a box she hasn’t ticked as yet though. (10) COLUMBIA BLUE is doing everything right this prep & deserves a crack at this harder affair. Numbers: 12 – 3 – 2 – 10 Suggested Bet: ICE KOOL TO WIN. RACE 6 (7) HURSTVILLE ZAGREB hasn’t been the punters favourite of late finishing out of the placings his past 3 starts, he’s started favourite twice & well in the market the other occasion. I like him back to the mile today & off a 3 week freshen up, he’ll roll forward & prove a lot harder to get past (hopefully). (2) HYPERBOLIC is flying of late lining up for the hat trick of wins today, plenty of weight however cannot be overlooked. (4) SLY BOOTS strips fitter & is another who will push forward from the get-go. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 4 – 12 Suggested Bet: HURSTVILLE ZAGREB EACH-WAY. RACE 7 Very tricky looking race where I’ll lean to the resuming (7) FAIRWAY STAR who is big odds in early markets for a horse with a good fresh record, she wasn’t far from a good type when resuming last prep & has been fitted up with a recent trial win (1200m), surely worth a ‘throw at the stumps’. (9) BRUTALINA is another set to resume, placed both fresh runs to date looks to have plenty of upside, draws well & is in good hands. Wide draw for (14) INFUSION however should she make light work of that early she’s right in the hunt. Numbers: 7 – 9 – 14 – 6 Suggested Bet: FAIRWAY STAR EACH-WAY (small bet). RACE 8 Can’t believe I’m tipping (2) SNACK BAR as I’ve been right up there amongst his critics however surely he gets away with this, surely! Class wise he’s the best placed horse in the race, we know how consistent he is however he just can’t get to the line first. Hopefully today is the day as I cannot find a lot capable of beating him. (7) STARDEEL resumes, trialled well & should be ready to go, market? (3) ALTHOFF & (6) LIVIN’ THING strip fitter off solid first up placings & can at least test the top pick. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 9 Keen on the chances of the very consistent (14) ROTAGILLA who does appear very well placed in the race. Too strong late at Rosehill two back (1800m) he stayed at the same trip last start when solid without winning, in my opinion he’s looking for further & he gets that today dropping half a kilo. Should get the right run for Zac Lloyd off the rails draw. (2) NEWFOUNDLAND an interesting runner, yet to win at anything below 2400m however did score fresh last prep, in the right hands & is a definite market watch. (15) INQUIRING MINDS one to throw into exotics. Numbers: 14 – 2 – 15 – 3 Suggested Bet: ROTAGILLA TO WIN. RACE 10 (17) ALTHOFF is a dual acceptor & an emergency here, he may not go around however should he do so he does appear well placed second-up. Cracking return here a fortnight back making a ton of ground from the back of the field the rise in trip looks tailor made. (2) BARTOLF is on a very consistent run of form at present, just needs luck to go his way from the wide alley. (6) APPLAUD chased home the Gateway winner at Rosehill last start, strong form line & at peak fitness. Numbers: 17 – 2 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. Market Market
