Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on October 30, 2025October 30, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 AUDIO BOY backs up off 7 days having finished 2.9L off Exquisite Taste, Romantic Ruler and Major Mario and whilst they’re hardly ‘exciting’ names from a form perspective the time figures out of that race were really strong. He’s drawn to park three back the fence in a race with a genuine tempo (Rock In Wonder / Battle Commander) and from there he gets all the favours and every chance. He’s the one the market will want. IM NIPOTE is knocking on the door having placed in all three runs this time in. He likely lobs 1×1 on the outside of Audio Boy and from there expect they’ll fight it out together. ROCK IN WONDER sat outside the leader on top of a hot tempo last start in a forgive. BATTLE COMMANDER deserved that win last Sunday. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – AUDIO BOY WIN RACE 2 KEGGS LATER has really emerged through the staying grades over the last 6 months. He was once a battling maiden who had been beaten at Geraldton but since Ash Maley has stepped him out over ground he’s really found his niche. Loved his last start run behind Emerald Trader and subsequent plunge winner Antique Star in a 66+ last start and he should do no work in running from this draw. Winnable the way he’s going. OMERTA GRACE trialled super leading into his return and third-up when the blinkers went on he found the winner’s circle. Can go on with it. TWILIGHT TALE is another really good Cerise & White ride for Amy Jo and from three back the fence she’s dangerous late with a split. ARGYLE STAR is a new horse under Metro Brown and like the mid-prep trial to keep her ticking over. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – KEGGS LATER WIN RACE 3 FUNCHAL was an eye-catcher at her return to racing behind Essentric Nature, in a race which has already produced a 66+ winner in Be Bardot last weekend. She was held up the entire of the straight and looked to have plenty to offer. Second-up gets to 1800m, Pike is booked and she looks the progressive horse in the line-up. Looks in for a great prep. WEMBANYAMA has won his last two and is certainly racing like he wants ground. Drops 1.5kg, maps to get a similar run to last start and is winding up powerfully late in his races. ATLANTIS BEACH would have preferred barrier 10/10 than barrier 1 as a monstrous horse who needs galloping room but he was very good last week. BLAZING EMERALD is fit and drops 3.5kg. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 10 – 7 Suggested Bet – FUNCHAL WIN RACE 4 BUTHELEZI stepped out first-up at 1500m and broke his maiden in style. He was only just hitting top gear at the end of the race and looked to be screaming out for ground. Rather than go back in distance to the Fairetha he’s taking on the older horses and on the 54kg minimum gets a wonderful chance to go two from two this campaign. Looks a Derby type in the Autumn. KELORA couldn’t be going any better but these younger horses have improvement to come whilst he’s right on his mark. SAAM TIME LUCKY will be three back the fence and that probably isn’t the ideal spot for a horse who still takes time to balance up and prefers to build into the race with a sustained run. HOLLER NUFF comes through the same race and held his own coming out of a maiden. Numbers: 8 – 3 – 11 – 10 Suggested Bet – BUTHELEZI EACHWAY RACE 5 THERMOSPHERE LAD is always going to be a very risky tipping/betting proposition but there should be eachway available and that’s exactly the insurance policy you want to be involved with a horse like him. If (If…) he jumps there looks to be a spot in the breeze for him and that would see him right in the mix. THE CALABREZE has massive X-Factor about him. He won’t go straight but there’s a serious motor in there. Wayward but talented and loved his fresh run. HEDAWOOD had 60.5kg last start and tried to match motors with sharp filly Fine Star in the home straight. Thought he did a super job to get as close to her as he did and now dropping 4.5kg looks to be a big winning chance. LATE ARRIVAL made a brilliant start to his WA career with three wins from four outings last prep. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 11 – 5 Suggested Bet – THERMOSPHERE LAD EACHWAY RACE 6 JOKERS GRIN was last seen in the $5,000,000 Quokka and he let rip with a breathtaking turn of foot to beat Headwall and Generosity and become the first WA horse to win the race. He’s an elite talent, he’s building a cult hero following and Bernie Miller is reaping the rewards of patience. Can’t wait to see him back at the races and expect him to sit back and monster them late. REPOSSESSION went through undefeated last campaign and beat the older horses in a Beaufine, however, this is now WFA and so he rises 4.5kg. Great measuring stick to see straight away whether he’s a Winterbottom horse. OSCARS FOTUNE lost his way in Victoria. Hopefully back home with Dion Luciani he improves. SNOWDOME sits on speed after enduring a tough passage in the Golden Saddle. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – JOKERS GRIN WIN RACE 7 BLACK ORA was able to burst through last start for a highly impressive short course win. Didn’t think she was anywhere near the level of her stablemate Kay Tee Why but sectionally she’s actually not that far off him. This is another step up in grade for her but with only 55kg she’ll be hard to hold out again. DESERT WHISPER is a jump and run mare who really relished winter wet track racing. Will we see the same dazzling speed on a Good4? TOROPA is a classy mare but 61kg is an ask in a high speed, high pressure race first-up. DO I FEEL LUCKY has again bypassed the 3 year old features to take on the older horses in a 72+. He’s got speed and he gives 110%. Few notable gear changes made second-up. Numbers: 7 – 4 – 2 – 10 Suggested Bet – BLACK ORA WIN RACE 8 ELITE BEAU has to step from beating up on battlers in a C3 mid-week into a much tougher race against his own age group stacked with talented and potential but he clearly has gears to work through and looks the type of horse who will continue to get better and better with racing. Think he will win a nice race one day. Big fan. ROSTISLAV was put into the contest in the Max Simmonds and love the way he toughed it out when the swoopers were getting over the top of them. TWISTED STEEL was unsuccessfully plunged after racing far too keenly and ultimately brought himself undone. Have to respect the sheer volume of money that came for him first-up even though he flopped. LUANA MISS arguably wins that race if she wasn’t held up at a crucial stage on straightening. Numbers: 10 – 7 – 6 – 9 Suggested Bet – ELITE BEAU WIN RACE 9 COSMIC CRUSADER is a m93 and it looks like you’ll need to be ~m100/102 just to get a start in the 2025 Railway Stakes, so for him he really needs to win either the Asian Beau or the RJ Peters to ensure he makes it to Grand Final day. He has been given a 6 week freshen after his demolition job at Belmont and a seriously impressive 1100m trial in between. There’s no speed in this and if he leads like he did first-up or second-up then he’ll be awfully hard to beat. WATCH ME ROCK was a good thing beat in the Eurythmic Stakes. If he can tow ball Cosmic Crusader it becomes a fascinating battle of tactics. BONJOY is then three back the fence in a race which could turn into a ‘rails in run’ affair. SEPTEMBER BORN drops 4kg on the 7 day spin and lands very much over the pace. Numbers: 7 – 5 – 6 – 12 Suggested Bet – COSMIC CRUSADER WIN Same Race Multi – Cosmic Crusader (Win) + Watch Me Rock (Top 2) Going aggressive in the Asian Beau Stakes and using the Same Race Multi functionality to turn this into a fixed odds Exacta bet with Cosmic Crusader to beat Watch Me Rock. Cosmic Crusader announced himself at Belmont with an 8L win with the handbrake on in an 84+ and could lead these if they wanted too. Watch Me Rock then likely sits leader’s back and follows his every move. RACE 10 SMOOTH CHINO is three from three undefeated and is just a raw talent. His win the 3 year old Magic Millions was outstanding and he has been given a decent spell prior to resuming as a 4 year old here in 66+ company. Just love the way he goes about it and Austin Galati heads to Ascot for the one single ride on Indianna Weinert’s stable star. Be great to see him go 4 from 4. YORGA PRIDE has been given 7 weeks and that’s potentially to see her aimed up at the Fillies and Mares series? She’s suffered defeat twice in her life, in the WA Breeders and at the hands of talented stablemate Essentric Nature. She’s a ripper. JAZ SESSION could well lead this line-up and if left alone gives a big kick. SCULLY was huge last start. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 8 – 9 Suggested Bet – SMOOTH CHINO EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 7 – 10) 2,4,7 6,7,9,10 5,7 2,7,8 Market Market
