Chris Nelson’s Saturday Eagle Farm Preview Posted on August 28, 2025August 28, 2025 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 Racing at Eagle Farm Saturday will be on a good rated surface under fine skies, it’s been a warm week suggesting the track will continue to firm up during race day. I’m leaning to the lightly raced (12) SHE’S EXOTIC in this opening race who resumed from a break with a solid looking Ipswich victory which was her fourth win at only five career appearances. She won that race looking like she’d take plenty of benefit from the run & if able to gain some cover or slot across from the awkward draw is a big chance to keep her impressive strike rate intact. (8) VINDICTA bolted in fresh, marginal winner here second up, she’s up to a decent weight today however should still figure. (1) FLAMING CONQUEST can make use of her good speed from an inside draw. Numbers: 12 – 8 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet: SHE’S EXOTIC EACH-WAY. RACE 2 Going with some value here putting (8) CONNECTICUT on top. He’s continued to find the line strongly at his past 3 starts rising in distance on each occasion. Up he goes again here & he stays down in the weights, looks overs for mine. (2) THE RIGHT WAY comes off a last start victory & maps as one of only two on-pacers in the race, rises 3kg on the latest win. Must include dual Mackay Cup winner (1) HYPE. Numbers: 8 – 2 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet: CONNECTICUT EACH-WAY. RACE 3 Going with the in-form galloper from the Gollan stable (9) READY FOR THE TRIP who I’d suggest will have no issue with the rise in distance as he’s been strong to the line his past couple. He will have to cope with a rise in grade though which is why we’re getting the each-way price, confident he can handle that. (1) CAVALRY MAN just had to make his move a little earlier than he & Ben Thompson would have liked at Doomben last start due to the soft tempo, he peaked late however strips fitter third-up & is a winner out to this longer trip. Include (3) EL PENSADOR, he’s been ok of late & the drop back in distance should suit. Numbers: 9 – 1 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet: READY FOR THE TRIP EACH-WAY. RACE 4 Now this is an interesting race. (4) CYBER CITY absolutely bolted in at Doomben going off at $51 which was a fair enough price as he’d shown very little at his 4 prior starts failing to run a placing. The question is can he repeat the dose here, well if the same horse turns up & runs the same time I’d say yes! If not (1) WHISPERING ROGUE looks a danger, on the quick back-up however will appreciate stepping out over further. (7) LONESOME SOUL is firmly in my blackbook for when she gets to beyond this trip, a win wouldn’t surprise however she races as a filly looking for a mile at this stage. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 7 – 3 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 5 Very keen on the chances of (3) FREE CARRY who was a very impressive first up winner this track over 1400m. He dualled with one other on-paced rival all the way to the home turn & they certainly hooked into the speed, once into the straight he dropped that rival however should have been vulnerable himself. Well, quite the opposite as he raced away putting a gap on his rivals to the line. Fitter, maps the lone leader & carries a kilo less weight, plenty of boxes ticked. (10) WALSH BAY sat up on speed & got the job done nicely last start, likely tags FREE CARRY in the run? (1) CUNNAMULLA FELLA in the mix as is (2) BATTLETON who will appreciate a form deck. Numbers: 3 – 10 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet: FREE CARRY TO WIN. RACE 6 Can’t see any reason as to why the in-form (7) GIVE GIGGLES can’t make it two straight Eagle Farm 1200m wins here. She’s drawn the perfect gate to either lead or take a trail & with some of the likely early speed already scratched tempo won’t be as strong. She just looks so well placed. (2) WARBY generally takes a run however when he draws well he usually parks closer & we know he owns a big finish, he can place. (4) BATTLEFIELD got back & did make ground first up, the drop back to 1200m not ideal however he’s still well worth including. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet: GIVE GIGGLES TO WIN. RACE 7 I’m with (10) BULLION BOY here however I’m a little concerned with the tempo. We originally had four on pacers which has now been reduced to only two suggesting he’s going to need a positive ride early to get into a winnable position. Terrific against a soft tempo last start I’d hate to see him suffer the same fate here as he does look extremely well placed, fingers crossed! (6) SLIPPIN’ JIMMY races on speed & may well get things to suit, strong winner last start in good time, logical danger. (1) DUCASSE brings the class & he won a good race first up last prep, don’t overlook. Numbers: 10 – 6 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet: BULLION BOY TO WIN. RACE 8 Tricky looking race where I’m leaning to the second-up (7) KEITEL who went back to last first up in a race which developed into a sprint home, he looked a chance half-way down the straight really warming to the task wide out however the race shape worked against him late. I’d love to see him closer in the run today however I’m not convinced he’s got any early speed to be able to do that. (16) ALECTRONA zoomed home in a solidly run race at Doomben last Saturday, needs further & gets it here. (18) SPRAY GUN may need the run however isn’t without at least a place chance at the big odds on offer. Numbers: 7 – 16 – 18 – 1 Suggested Bet: KEITEL EACH-WAY (small bet). RACE 9 This race all revolves around the unbeaten (13) WITHOUT PARALLEL & whether she goes around here or at Rosehill, as I type she’s still accepted for both & scratched from neither. Should she head south I’ll lean to (4) OUROBOROS who was beaten at Doomben first up after holding a commanding lead in the straight, how she ended up being nailed right on the line still astounds me! (5) CASPERNOVA hasn’t quite gone on with it this prep however dropping back to 1200m is more suitable. Numbers: 13 – 4 – 5 – 10 Suggested Bet: TOP TWO SELECTIONS. Market Market
