Scott Embry’s Saturday Marble Bar Preview Posted on July 3, 2025July 3, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 ROYALZEL suffered his first defeat on the dirt at Port Hedland last start when sitting three and four deep the trip under 59.5kg and finishing less than 2L off Simply Rosso and Justhandy. Drops down 3kg here into a Win Only 4 horse line-up and should prove hard to beat. OUR KIWI PRINCESS and PROTECTED ACTION both finished second in their recent outings and going to suggest the Border Control form is the superior form, especially when you remember that Our Kiwi Princess won at Marble Bar last season (by 3.5L). MAKE MINE SUPER likely finishes fourth. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – ROYALZEL WIN RACE 2 BLACK CILA had her first start on the dirt for new trainer Malcolm Mackenzie when third behind Make De Fortune and subsequent winner Living Like Kings. Becomes the obvious form reference and often at Marble Bar being drawn wide isn’t an issue as they can swoop with sustained runs. THE KINGS WERD was much better last week behind Granite Rock, Fast John and Arduet. SIGN THE PAPERS heads north for Ryan Hill and Sharni Webster is riding the dirt particularly well. GRONAR heads across from Broome and while beaten massive margins should find this considerably easier. Numbers: 7 – 6 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – BLACK CILA WIN RACE 3 SHOOTING KONTIKI was the winner by DQ last start but the Warby Ranges form looks great. Think Kyra Yuill can park up outside Gunnerside and prove hard to beat. GUNNERSIDE will lead and while 1200m is about as far as he wants he’ll be in front for a long way. NOVATORIO won impressively before unfortunately weighing in light. Just needs to reproduce the effort. No fault of horse (or rider reading the Stewards Report). FAMEUX had his first start on the dirt at Carnarvon last week and after parking wide throughout finished third behind Incandescent Lady and City Mistress. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – SHOOTING KONTIKI WIN RACE 4 MAKE DE FORTUNE bolted in at Port Hedland and could not have asked for a weaker C1 1600 to go back to back. Rises up 4kg but in a race without any real speed, pressure or quality Rosie Mahony should kick through to lead and control. CHEDDAR BOB has been racing below his best this preparation but he’s going from C2 company at Broome into C1 company at Marble Bar. He’s the obvious improver. FINE LINE has met with some support at odds in recent outings. ONLY BY THE NIGHT is still a maiden but will see out the trip. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – MAKE DE FORTUNE WIN RACE 5 WARBY RANGES has been an outstanding dirt acquisition for Timo Pike. Five outings this season for 3 wins and 2 minors and now gets out to 1600m to suit. This is the toughest test he has faced but he’s loving dirt racing and he’s 2/2 undefeated on the quick back-up. We go again. MERCIAN HYMN will come into his own in the NW Cups Series as they step him out over further ground. 1600m still short of his best trip. ARCHER COUNTY is getting closer. WAKAN TANKA has a set of shades going back on. Numbers: 5 – 7 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – WARBY RANGES WIN RACE 6 CHAVORIO looks to have found a winnable race here on the 7 day back-up. Finsihed third last weekend behind Warby Ranges and Cousin Nicci and expecting that form to hold up in the Cup. Prior to that has form around Stay Wealthy and Zadar Rock who quinella’d a race last weekend at Roebourne. UNI QUEEN can mix her form but she’s fit and can be put into the race. TALKABOUTYOU drops 2.5kg and comes back in trip and can lead. ORTUM KRISP is going better than numerical form suggests Numbers: 1 – 2 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – CHAVORIO WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 1,2,5,6 2 3,5,7 1,2,7 Market Market
